Question about Epson RX595 Photo All-In-One Printer

When printing B&W pics, prints in color instead (sepia)

Even though the gray scale option is selected, so it should use black ink only, all the B&W pictures print in sepia, using a lot of color ink. How do we get B&W only?

I am attempting to print photos from the ArcSoft PhotoImpression software that came with this printer. Everything I attempt to print B&W comes out brown and white, or sepia. Printer is only a month old. I have checked settings on the printer, incuding the paper selection. Plenty of black ink. I tried to contact the Epson website and got some half-assed answer about scanning, which I was NOT doing. I was printing from the software. Can't figure out how to get the pics to be black and white....Any help you can provide will be GREATLY appreciated!!!

The b&W option from the driver are only applicable to documents. If you wanted to print B&W picture, you need to set it on the program that you are printing from.

Do I have to have a color cartridge in order to print? Can I just use a black ink cartridge?

The HP DeskJet 6122 can print with both or only one ink cartridge installed. The printer driver includes an option to print in gray scale as a substitution for color. If you choose to print a document that has a color other than black and white with only a black cartridge installed, I recommend you select the gray scale print option. To select gray scale, select the printer properties and check the box for gray scale rather than color printing. This selection can be made either at the time a document is ready to print (ie., a one time selection, using the "Properties" box in the print options window), OR as a permenant setting using the Control Panel, Printers, HP DeskJet 6122, "Properties" window. Once changed in the general printer properties, these settings remain active anytime the HP DeskJet 6122 printer is selected to print a document.

I cannot get my printer to print in only black and white. I have put new ink cartridges in, both color and black. I have selected "print in gray scale only" in the print options. But anything I...

Please take out the new cartridges and re-position them correctly i.e. color cartridge on the left and black cartridge on the right seating. Check that you hear a click sound when the cartridge is placed in the seating. Print a test page. Then switch off the printer for some time. Re start the printer and now carry out the gray scale printing.

I have a HP Deskjet D4260 and when i print something using HP Deskjet D4200 series its black and white. I need the pictures to be in color

U must be using HP74, 75 cartridge for your printer.

There are few reasons you are getting black and white (gray)...for printing job.

1. No color ink.
- If you are out of color ink.. that's what it happens.
- check your ink level through control panel.

2. Printer set up. (I think this is pretty much the reason you are not getting color)
- First, check your printer setting.
If they are on gray scale mode, pls chang to color.
How? when you click the print (through file manu), there are option for control panel on your screen. Click that option and will see some detail option you can choose from size, print quality.
Among the print quality option, pls choose, color mode instead of gray mode. That's it.

If you would like to save money, try refill kit by "ROADINK".
Not only they are easy, but also the printing quality is good.
For your better understanding pls check out my youtube video.
And will see how easy ink refill can be done.

Apparently, when grayscale printing is selected, some color ink is still used which is why you are getting a pinkish gray color instead of just gray. Here are instructions for solely using the black ink tank.

Print using pigment black ink only (Windows)
Instructions to print using only the pigment black ink tank only. Occasionally you may need to print using black ink only. Using grayscale alone does not provide this option and the color inks will still be used. By following this procedure you may print using only the pigment black ink tank.

Note: Some color ink will still be used for print head maintenance.

Note: Image quality may be sacrificed when printing photographs.

Open the Properties / Preferences window for the printer.

For Windows 7
Click 'Start' from the bottom left of the Windows screen, and 'Devices and Printers .'
Click your right mouse button on the listing for your printer, and then select 'Printing Preferences...' from the menu that appears.

For Windows Vista
Click / Select 'Start' from the bottom left of the Windows screen, 'Control Panel', 'Hardware and Sound', and then click on 'Printers'. Note: If you are in 'Classic' view, Click 'Printers' directly from the 'Control Panel'.
Click your right mouse button on the listing for your printer, and then select 'Printing Preferences...' from the menu that appears.

For Windows XP Home Edition
Click / Select 'Start' from the bottom left of the Windows screen, 'Control Panel,' 'Printers and Other Hardware,' and 'Printers and Faxes.'
Click your right mouse button on the listing for your printer, and then select 'Printing Preferences...' from the menu that appears.

For Windows XP Professional Edition
Click 'Start' from the bottom left of the Windows screen, and 'Printers and Faxes.'
Click your right mouse button on the listing for your printer, and then select 'Printing Preferences...' from the menu that appears.

For Windows 2000/ Me/98 (if applicable)
Click / Select 'Start' from the bottom left of the Windows screen, and 'Settings,' then 'Printers.'
Click your right mouse button on the listing for your printer, and then select 'Properties' from the menu that appears.

Click on the Main tab.

Select 'Plain Paper' as the Media Type. If any other paper type is selected, color ink will be used to create black.

How can I print only in black? I have run out of some of the color cartridges but have some black left.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. To print only in black you'll need to go to the start menu, click left on it then go to Printers icon and left click on it, now right click on the Printer you are using, then select Preferences. A window will open with some options. You'll need to choose Color->Print in Gray Scale -> beneath it select black ink only instead of High Quality.
Please do rate the solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Won't print Black

I assume you have the black cartridge installed correctle and it has enough ink.
Check these : Either through Contol Panel or any other place where you can see a list of installed printers, select your printer.
Right Click on the Printer
Left cLick on Properties.
Left click on Preferences.
Click on Color tab
Choose ...Color Or Gray Scale
Some times it will show as Color OR Black
Choose black.
You have to do a test page.
Hope this will help.

How to print in black and white only

Goto Control Panel > Printer and Faxes > Right Click > Printer Prefernces

A dialogue box will appear, now from here every printer got a bit different tabs.
Even though its too easy to find somthing like "color".
Under such tab you will find options like
  • Color Printing
  • Gray Scale
  • Black Ink Only
  • Toner Saver mode (For Lasers)
So select the Black & White option, and its done.

How can I print a color picture without using a black catridge?

Black ink is an essential part of the printing process. The black color is only made by the black cartridge, the color cartridge does make "black".
One or more optional photo cartridges may be available, depending on your printer model.
  • Use the photo cartridge with a tri-color cartridge for best-quality color photos and graphics, and sepia or antique photos.
  • Choose a gray photo cartridge to print black and white photos with truer grays and richer blacks.
