Question about Hoover S3765-040 WindTunnel Bagless Canister Vacuum

Power brush motor seems too weak

It turns fine on hard surface, but on some carpets it just stops rotating and at least one time the motor threw the belt off so I needed to put it back on. It supposed to adjust "automatically" to the length of the carpet but it certainly doesn't. Kind of unexpected for a brand new vac (just got it yesterday). Ideas?

Nearly same problem. Cannister vac is 1 month old. Used 6 times on very small carpet areas. Both carpets are short to medium thickness. Problem: The brush stalls as soon as you put it down on the carpet. Motor still turns but belt slips. Hoover service center has already put on a new belt, then unit ran for only 3 to 5 minutes before same annoying stall occurred. I complained to customer service enough that they are sending a new brush. I doubt that it will help since I agree with the person who thinks the bristles project too far and engage the carpet too agressively. Will try trimming the bristles when the new brush arrives. Complain and demand a design change!!

My machine throws the belt. New belts throw at the same rate as an old belt. When the belt is re-installed, it seems to last about as long as a brand new belt, then it comes off and had to be re-installed.

I've had this cleaner just over a year and recently noticed the brush in the power nozzle stops rotating when I'm on very low pile carpet. I'm happy to try trim the bristles if there's no other solution - just wondering if anyone's had the experience of this helping?

That all sounds very reasonable, except it wasn't the belt that was having problems turning the brush -- it was the motor itself. All that mostly happens on one particular carpet in my house, made of a pretty hard material. I didn't want to completely kill the motor and finally wound up trimming the bristle a bit. So far, it appears to be working.

This machine needs a new belt. The belt is stretched into position and even if it is not used, will fatigue over time. This can occur as the machine is in storage waiting to be sold. If you check the bristle on the roller, you will observe that it extends out the bottom of the powerhead quite far and is very stiff. This causes the brush to engage the carpet very aggressively and puts considerable strain on the belt. A tired belt will fail very quickly under these conditions. You should take it to a warranty depot and have the belt changed.
This machine also has variable speed motor in the main unit. This is so you can adjust how heavily the powerhead brushes the carpet. If it is set too high, on certain carpets, the suction will pull the powerhead down too hard and this will bogg the roller and cause the belt to fail prematurely.

Our DC41 is impossible to push on carpet. Is there an adjustment to do? Almost like there is too much suction.

See if the following information can help.

CARPETS OR HARD FLOORS

• The brush bar will always default to 'ON' (spinning) each time you switch the

appliance 'ON' and recline it for cleaning.

• The brush bar will not rotate when the appliance is upright.

• To switch the brush bar 'OFF' (e.g. for delicate rugs and hard floors):

- switch the appliance 'ON'

- recline the appliance

- press the brush bar 'ON/OFF' button - the brush bar will stop spinning.

• The brush bar will automatically stop if it becomes obstructed. See 'Brush bar -

clearing obstructions'.

• Before vacuuming your flooring, rugs and carpets, check the manufacturer's

recommended cleaning instructions.

• Some carpets may fuzz if a rotating brush bar is used when vacuuming. If this

happens, we recommend vacuuming in 'hard floor' mode and consulting with

the flooring manufacturer.

• The brush bar on the appliance may damage some carpet types. If you are
unsure, turn 'OFF' the brush bar.

How do I know which way round the carpet control works on power vx pet

I don't have one of these but normally the hard floor surface will have a brush around an edge or all the way around in contact with the floor, and for carpet you will just have the normal rotating brush. The rotating brush is always there.

How to Turn off beater bar

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC44's brush bar is engineered to rotate on both hard floors and carpeting. The brush bar includes stiff nylon bristles to agitate and remove stubborn dirt and pet hair from carpet, and anti-static carbon fibre filaments to remove fine dust from hard floors and crevices.

For this reason, the brush bar is designed to run on all floor surfaces when the machine is in use, and cannot be turned off. You might find our Getting started guide useful:

How do i alter the dyson dc04 to use on hard floors

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your DC04 has a brush control on the cleaner head, you'll need to set this to 'On' for carpets, and 'Off' for hard floors. You can find out how to do this on our Support site:

http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc04/dc04-brush-control/my-machine-is-not-working/i-can-see-something-wrong-visual/i-can-see-something-wrong-visual/my-brushbar-is-not-rotating2/does-the-brushbar-rotate-with-the-power-on

If your machine does not include the brush control, it will only be suitable for vacuuming carpeted surfaces and we'd advise against using it on hard floors in upright mode. However, you can use the hose and wand to vacuum hard floors and we have several suitable hard floor tools available which may help.

I hope this helps - if you'd like further advice you can reach our freephone Helpline on 0800 298 0298. Just to let you know, our Helpline is available from 7am-10pm, 7 days a week.

The beater brush wont spin because the brush roll is always in the off position. Moving the carpet/hard switch doesn't turn it on.

Hello :
Try this please :
Switch the carpet/bare floor dial back & forth 5 times, ending on carpet. Tilt the handle back as if to vacuum upright & lay the vacuum on its side so it is resting on the side opposite the carpet/bare floor dial. Turn the vacuum on.
Or Maybe the belt is broke. You will have to replace the belt before the roller can spin. You must have run over something in the carpeting like string or whatever to have it break. Happens all the time. Get several replacement belts to keep as spares while you're at it as nothing is worse then having to vacuum and no spare belts.
........................
Try this also please :
Things You'll Need: Phillips head #2 screwdriver Replacement belt for your vacuum model Spray lubricant, such as silicone spray or teflon lube.
1: Unplug the vacuum. Never work on an electrical appliance when it is plugged into an electrical outlet.
2: Turn the vacuum over and locate the plastic or metal plate that covers the rotating brush. Remove this plate.
Note: This plate is typically attached by a small number of Phillips head screws or by levers that turn and lock the plate in place. In either case, removing this plate is a simple task.
3:Identify the vacuum's rotating brush. This brush should have a black rubber belt wrapped around it, and stretched around the metal shaft of an electrical motor mounted somewhere toward the back of the vacuum.
4:Verify that the brush will rotate freely. Examine both ends of the brush to ensure that no threads, string, yarn, etc. have become wrapped around the ends and thus inhibited a free rotation. If there is foreign debris, remove the brush by sliding it up, away from the bottom of the vacuum. Remove the debris
5:Lubricate both ends of the rotating brush with the spray lubricant. Replace the brush into the grooves which hold it in place
Replace the existing belt on the brush assembly, or replace a broken belt with a new vacuum belt.
6:Verify that the brushes now turn freely when back in place and that the motor shaft turns as the brush rotor turns.

The reason for the brushes to stop when it is above any surface is there is a switch in the handle that stops the brushes so it dont burn your motor up it may have a faulty switch.

The front brush motor will not engage until the power is turned on and the handle is in the down position. In the upright position the brush motor wont engage. Typical faults will be the belt is broken and needs replacing or the fornt brush motor needs replacing.

The brushes will only work if the handle is released and the ProHeat vacuum is running . There is a micro switch inside the lower handle that switches on the DC carpet brush motor. The DC power for the motor comes from a Bridge Rectifier on the PC Board. petedcurtis@gmail.com
