Media Full, Shutting Down

While using my Memorex MMP8567 player, I changed songs and received the error "Media Full, Shutting Down." I only had 95 songs on it. I went home and deleted all the songs from the Media Player and it gave me the same error. After deleting all of the songs from it, the media player no longer showed up in My Computer so I was not able to right click and format it, nor was I able to use the Firmware that I downloaded from the Memorex website.

When I plug the USB plug into the computer, it still does not show up in My Computer, but a screen does pop up that says "MTP Media Player: Windows Can Perform the same action each time you connect this device. What would you like to do?" and then it lists "Open with Winamp and Take No action." When I click on Open with Winamp, nothing happens. Also, when I have the player plugged into my computer with the USB cord, the screen of the player says "USB Connected. Ready."

Help! I'm very frusturated :-(

I contacted Memorex and they told me to try and format my mp3 player but when I plug it into my computer, my computer does not recognize it so I was not able to format it.

The person at Memorex was pretty clueless and then she ended the phone call by telling me that my mp3 player is "defective" and I should "buy a new one."

    media full, shuttin down problem

I also have the MMP8567, and the last time I tried to update my playlists, it looked like it went into an auto transfer, which I had specifically turned off on my computer (Vista, which apparently isn't supported). After that, I turn on the player and I get the 'media full, shutting down,' then it turns off. I've also hooked it up to my laptop (XP) and got the same auto transfer screen very quickly, then it turns off. I had nowhere near enough music to fill it up.

There should be a way to delete everything on it and start over, but I've googled it and this is all I have found.

Try a different operating system on some computer.  For example, I got my MMP8640 to connect on a Wolvix (Linux) laptop.  (You can download a live CD (i.e. boot from CD without installing on your computer and return to your normal system after you restart without the CD) from www.wolvix.org).

Once the player is connected, it may or may not power on.  Disconnect the player (even if it says not to - assuming you aren't transferring anything to it at the moment). If it hasn't powered on the first time, try disconnects and reconnects, waiting several seconds between each time.  Then reconnect the player.  Delete one file.  This fixed it for me.

When I turn my player on it says boot error, shutting down I have songs on it and have been using it for five months. This is a new problem. Memorex mmp8567

Memorex=3M. Like the video tapes, it's guaranteed for life. There's probably nothing you can do yourself if it uses MTP as opposed to UMS, otherwise you could just format it on your PC and start over.

Boot error

Problem Solved: My MMP8567 screen read ''boot error shutting down''.
Everytime I plugged it in to the computer the computer would find it but then it would disappear almost immediately.
I downloaded the Updater program from Memorex but it couldn't find the player.
The directions from Memorex said ''Hold down the play button and plug in usb cable.'' 'Another set of Memorex directions said, ''Hold down the power button and plug in usb cable.'' Neither worked for me.
SOLUTION: I finally held down the LOCK/UNLOCK button and plugged in the usb cable. My computer found the player immediately and a software driver window popped up asking for a driver. I let windows search the internet and it found and installed the driver. The driver it was looking for was: ''player recover device class driver'' After windows confirmed it recognized my mp3 player I started up the Firmware update program and was able to update the player.
I tried to be clear and detailed. Good Luck ;-)

Boot error

Hello all:

I just resolved this same boot error problem with my Memorex MMP8567 mp3 player. After talking to technical support, they could not resolve it, so I decided to try it myself. Here is what I did step by step:

1. Downloaded and installed the firmware for the player from memorex web site.

2. In windows xp, click on Start>All Programs>Digital Audio Player>Memorex MMP8567 Firmware Download to start the firmware program.

3. Connect the USB cable for the player to the computer's USB port.

4. Remove battery from the mp3 player and connect it to USB cable. At the same time depress and hold BOTH the 'menu' button on the left of the player and the volume control button on the right of the player for a few seconds until you see "initializing" in your firmware software program. Then click on the "format" option within this same firmware program. (Note: this will erase all your files on the player, but will also get rid of whatever is causing the boot errors!)

5. When the firmware program is ready, click on start and wait until it is finished.

6. Your MMP8567 should now work just fine!

I hope this helps out someone. Good luck!!

It says boot error shutting down and my pc won't recognise it

I have also had the same problem. Go to Google mail and type "MMP8567 boot error" in the search. You will get results where there is links to get the firmware. Especially, from FixYa. Down load the firmware and install it in your PC. Then it will format your player and install the new firmware. Your recorded songs will be lost.
