My father-in-law just bought this scanner and is trying to scan something to email to me, but as an attachment on his regular email--not through Outlook Express which is the default. Is there a way to save it to My Documents (with a file name) so that he can use yahoo to send it? Thanks. Sz

Hi I think you will need to run the cd installer again to install the scanner driver on your printer.
You can check if the driver of the scanner was successfully installed once you view on the Scanners & Cameras inside the Control Panel and see the image of your printer scanner. It means it is connected and ready to be used. If you can not see the icon of the printer scanner there, then, it could not be installed or the printer is attached to other pc in the network.
Remember to use the printer as scanner, it should be attached locally to the pc you are using. Pressing the Scan button in the printer will save the scanned documents in the computer as pdf files. In order to save the documents as jpeg files, you must need to use the scan option on the Scanners & Cameras inside the Control Panel.

If you load the documents and press the SCAN button, the file will be save directly to the pc as pdf file.
You can use the scanner option on the control panel to scan the documents and save as jpeg file. How? Go on Start...click Control Panel...then select Scanners/Cameras..click next and follow instructions..
How? Click start, select control panel, double click Scanners/Camera Select the model of your all-in-one and click it put in the scanner the documents for scan. On your computer click next rename the scanned documents and browse for directory where you want to save it. Follow the instructions that will appear and you will not lost in the procedure
just place your paper document in the scanner, cover it, then press the SCAN button in your scanner device. Another way to do it is to open your scanner program installed with your printer. Then make sure to "Scan to File" so that you can save your scanned document to file and attach to emails or whatever.
you can try it by using the scanner option on the control panel. If you are using windows operating system, go on start menu, select control panel and double click scanners & cameras. Double click the scanner online and start scanning the documents. Save it in the format you want but it is usually default as jpeg.
scanned documents usually saved as .pdf file if you run the scan option directly on the printer. By pressing the SCAN button the printer. So do not use this option if you do not want the documents to be saved as pdf files.
try scanning the photo or page/
save to my pictures folder as jpg file/
open email click attachment/
it will open an application to choose file so go to my pictures folder and select the file you just crated and saved/
your email will upload that fill so it might take a minute or two/
write your email and then send it.
practice it a few times sending it to yourself or another email address you might have/
when you have successfully recieved your file you now know how to do it/
i have found the way to scan items from a Canon MX310 (on windows)
1.On windows go to control panel 2. click hardware and sounds 3. then hit devices and printers 4. then click on the Canon Inkjet MX310 seriers 5. then you will see scanner management click on scan Photos or docs 6.then place the photo or doc under the scanner and hit scan!
That is all the steps you will need. 17 years old computer tech.
