I have had this same problem with my PND-K3. I am not sure what caused the system to fail. I have always treated it carefully. The only thing I could think of is the fact that I left the unit in the car during extremely cold temperatures. My advice to you is:
1) Remove the unit from the cradle.
2) Place the unit somewhere at room temperature.
3) Plug the wall charger unit to your device and to the electrical outlet.
4) Allow the unit to charge for a few hours.
5) After, try a "soft boot" by pressing the "reset" button in for a couple of seconds.
6) If step 5 fails, you will need to execute a "hard boot" by simultaneously pressing and holding the "reset" and "volume down" buttons.
**Note** Both the "reset" and "volume down" buttons must be pressed in and held down for a few seconds. The Alpine logo screen should appear, and the unit should power on. Hope this helps...
