i have a sony psp with custom firmware 3.40 oe-a installed but every time i try and load a game from the memory stick i get an error code 80010002
i did manage to get a game playing then i upgraded to firmware 3.52m33 now i keep getting this code so i have reset the firmware to 3.40 oe-a
my kernal is set at 3.40 but i have tried setting it to 1.50 and it makes no differance i still get the error code 80010002
If you are having the error code "80010002" then shut down your psp, then start it up again holding the Right Trigger to activate recovery menu.
go to Configuration, and use no umd.
then go to Advanced, then Advanced configuration, then disable both of them.

Re: sony psp error code 80010002
If this is like homebrew or customized upgrades made buy someone else other than sony that may be your problem.....sony encodes the games with codec by sony....so if the game doesnt see the codec in the handshke between the psp and the game you will have problems....most of these customized upgrades are made more for the hacker crowd...(hey everyone like to find a way to cheat the system=)
I'm having this same problem with Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. My firmware is 6.20 TN-C, and I tried the thing with the Recovery Menu and it just booted up like normal, no recovery menu whatsoever. Also, I have a homebrew enabler installed, and without that turned on I get some error about copyright information.
Ive recently downloaded ff8 and copied files to gamesxx on my psp but keep being shown the same code no matter what i try change in restore config and advanced config,, the code is 80010002,, im using a 5.50 GEN-D full.. plz help sum1..
I had the same problem too. I tried a slightly diff solution.shut down your psp, then start it up again holding the Right Trigger to activate recovery menu. go to Configuration, and use no umd. then go to Advanced, then Advanced configuration, then enable the execute Bin .

You haven't enabled Autorun Program at /PSP/GAME/BOOT/EBOOT.PBP have you?
Are you trying to play the game from the memory stick? Or are you trying to play a game from the UMD and retrieve the saved game data from the memory stick?
5.00 m33 is a custom firmware that allows the PSP to play games stored on a memory stick. If you upgrade to 5.50, which is an original Sony firmware, that functionality will go away. If you have custom firmware, you should never upgrade it or the features like playing homebrew or loading games from a memory stick will go away.
you can't update your psp from custom firmware(what you have) to official firmware (what your trying to get to) What you need is to upgrade your firmware from OE-A to M33. All you need to search for is 3.51 m33 creator.
You can't download games unless you have custom firmware some custom firmware have viruses and i don't reccomend you trying to get games because they might crash your computer and it's hard to put games on it because most of the time it says corrupted data
HELLO! There's no need to downgrade ur PSP. If u have upgraded ur PSP from the official site and a official firmware has been installed on to ur PSP, it won't execute games(ISO,CSO) from ur memory stick. It will only run games from the UMD. If u want to run ur games from a memory stick u have to install a CUSTOM FIRMWARE. Try www.psp-hacks.com these guys have many softwares on their site. Dont worry its not that hard to put a Custom firmware onto ur PSP.
hi your previous psp version is 3.80 m33 if yes your using custom firmware that why you can play game to your memory stick the problem is you upgrade your psp firmware to sony official firmware 5.01 you reinstall your firwmware again using custom firmware like 5.00 m33-3 cfw below with m33 or OE
An OE-C firmware is not an official firmware, and is rather old. The fact that it has a recovery menu is another indication that it is not official. My bet is that since your firmware is so dated, it can't run some of your newer games. Update your firmware either to a more recent custom firmware or to the latest Sony official firmware (you won't be able to play your ISOs though).
To play game on your memory stick you'll need Custom Firmware installed
such as M33/OE on your PSP, else if you play a UMD. The last CFw Update
What is version on your PSP? (on PSP Menu, move across to the
"Settings Menu". Scroll down, select to "System Settings" >
"System Information" and you should see version of your PSP.)
Here's at MyBlog, how to install CFw Guides. If this is the first time you've used the Memory Stick Duo, you must format it with PSP to create the proper PSP folder structure. then copy your game *.ISO/CSO into ISO folder, and DevHook folder to the root on your memory.
Hope this helpful/idea. Pls post back should you need additional information. ^_^
This problem occurs when there is some problem with the firmware, it can be happen If you are running official sony firmware, and/or if your firmware in custom OE/SE, you will need UMD inserted for execute devhook app. if so, i recommend you to upgrade your firmware to use the latest version of the custom firmware. 3.71 M33-2.you can activate the plugin for using M33 or Sony-NPL9960 driver. see here for guide. but what version is your psp?
