Question about Serial Adapters

1 Answer

Cyclades TS100 Hello I have a Cyclades TS100 and I have a couple of Serial Devices. One of which is a payclock and another is our PBX system (Partner ACS R7.0) Currently we have the serial ports plugged in the back of 2 different computers. The problems is one (the payclock) is on a server locked up preventing anyone from "Polling" the payclock (even myself, the business owner) unless we Remote into that machine and poll the payclock. On the PBX System we have a RJ45 line (non network) running directly to a DB9 serial port (?) in to get it to work on my computer. Again leaving everyone out except myself to program or change the phones. Will cyclades TS100 act as a Serial to RJ45 converter and be usable over the LAN?

Hello i am looking free drivers for Dell Optiplex GX620 is it possible

Hi, you can get drivers for the OptiPlex GX620 straight from the Dell website:

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&ServiceTag=&SystemID=PLX_GX620&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=

Just choose your operating system and a specific driver category (or choose All) and pick the drivers you want.

The computer does not recognise the adapter

You need to isolate the problem. You may need to connect the USB-Serial adapter into different USB port of your computer or you may want to try connecting it into different computer. If you get the same problem after using different computer, you may need a driver for it. Or it could be defective.

Have a great day!

I need a Vista driver for the USA-19QW Serial Adapter

I have an old 4-port Keyspan serial device that also doesn't work with Vista.  Unfortunately Keyspan didn't provide Vista drivers for some of the older USB to Serial devices before they were acquired by Tripp-Lite, so you will probably need to get a replacement (Keyspan usa-19hs has Vista support, that one works for me).  The support page for Keyspan USB devices is here: USB Connectivity & Device Servers

If you've updated your software and checked the drivers but the issue still persists, try the following things:
  • Unplug the USB device and then plug it back in. Make sure that the connection is snug and installed in the proper direction. Note that USB plugs fit one way only—if you try to plug them in upside-down, it will not insert.
If this does not solve your issue-
  • Unplug all USB devices from the computer. Then start plugging in USB devices one at a time, testing each one to make sure they all work before adding the next. Sometimes two devices will conflict and will work together.
If this does not solve your issue-
  • Is this a new device that never worked, or is it a device that you've had for a while that suddenly stopped working? If it used to work, think about what changed just before the device stopped working. Did you recently add another new device? Install a new program? Try reverting the computer to the way it was before the device stopped working. If it works again, there is an incompatibility with the device and whatever you added.
If this does not solve your issue-
  • Unplug all but suspected USB devices. Open System Devices menu-
    • Windows: Right click “My Computer” > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager > USB Serial Bus Controllers
Under the USB information, you should see the USB devices connected to your system. (Disregard any Host controllers) The name may not be identical to your device (it may say “USB Mass storage device”), but it should have the right number of devices listed.
If this does not solve your issue-
  • If you have the device plugged into a USB hub or into your keyboard, plug it directly into one of the USB ports on the computer. If it works there, the issue is with the device to which it had been previously connected. The device may need more power than the port provides
  • Try a different computer!

No output from serial ports

This sounds like an IRQ inturrupt issue. Do you have other serial devices on this computer? If so, you might consider removing any other serial devices and see if the problem resolves itself. If it does, you will need to reconfigure one of the devices to another IRQ so that they don't interfere with each other. Dan

Installation issues

Go into the device manager and hit view/show hidden devices. Remove any Unknown devices. Also remove any devices with an exclamation point. Install the software if it allows to continue. If not, shut down the machine, move the card to another slot. Boot up and install the software then.
