I believe that model has a logic board in it and that is what it sounds like to me. That is just off top of my head, but I believe if you will notice the standby light it will be blinking so many blinks and stop and then blink again. If so this is a code that you can look up on the Samsung web site and plug in your model and it should tell you what just say ~ 4 blinks means. I worked on so many and it has been a while but I believe the last one I had was a Samsung and I put a logic board in it. If I can be of any further assistance please let me know.
Most of the Mitsubishi rear projection sets made from about 2000 through 2006 have a self diagnostic check feature. It will indicate if there is a error or not and point you in the direction of your trouble.
Based on the error code I or others can tell you more based on the error code and the EXACT model number of the set.
Here is what you do if it turns on for a few seconds and then the power light goes off.
/* Style Definitions */
mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt;
font-family:"Times New Roman";
UNPLUG TV AND THEN PLUG BACK IN---TURN ON---GREEN POWER
LIGHT COMES ON FOR A MOMENT AND GOES OFF.
PRESS AND HOLD “Menu and Input"(or device) buttons on front of tv
for at least 5 seconds and then release both together.
If the light continues to flash with no picture and you still get sound, your bulb is out. Though it could be any number of issues. To reset a Mitsubishi, hold the power button down for approx. 10-15 seconds until you hear a faint click.
I have had my WS-65511 fail like this, first at 4 years, second 2 weeks later, then 3rd time yesterday (4/14/2009). In past, the tech replaced a thermal sensor p/n 299P313010A (but Mitsubishi says that part is not for WS-65511 and that it does not have a thermal sensor - go figure). It is a white rectangle with about 30 pins in 2 rows and is soldered onto a board in the TV. List price is about $25. Might be your problem.
First thing that your set needs is for repair shop to solder all poor and loose connections on power supply broad that most of the time will fix the problem but these sets do have alot of problems with them / bad flybacks- ribbons&connectors- tuner broads , most of all of these problems started out with poor connection bad solder joints and ribbons.You could be looking at 350. repair job.It really depends on what your set needs.Thank You for using FixYa and Have a Nice Day.
I had the same exact problem.
I removed the bulb and cleaned it. There is a small screen at the top of the bulb and it was covered with dust. Once it was cleaned I replaced the bulb and it solved the problem.
