Marantz should have this part. It is the original part so it costs a bit more, plus if you don't have an account with them i.e. you are not an authorized Marantz repair guy, it will cost even more. You need to tell them the model of the unit you are trying to fix and give them this part no. : BZ10102020. Tell them this is the MJI part number. Also, once they see the part on their database, ask for the description to make sure it is correct. Marantz phone #: (630)307-3100. This is a very nice unit and deserves only original parts. Let me know what happens. Good luck!

you did not mention the size (wattage) of the resistor. If it's 1/4 or
1/8 watt, AND you can't find ANY information about the amp, then try
a 10k, if won;t work, then try 1K. (or try 100k -> 10K -< 1K),
if wattage is 1+ watts, likely will be a lower value try sequence
(1K -> 100 ohm -> 10 ohm -> ?? 1ohm.... caution on lower values,
current surge may take out more components). Really, really try
to get schematic, or look at a working amp to determine true value.
Subbing in low value resistors is very risky!!!

The 5 ohm could be challenging, what you could try is to get 2 10ohm 3 watt and put them in parallel. Will be 5 ohm and 10ohm is easy to get

Hope that helps

Need to wire two dvc 15 in kicer l7 to 1 ohm

Hello goldy6569,

To wire the L72's at 1ohm, simply connect both +'s and -"s on each sub together. Then connect to your amp terminals.

With 2ohm DVC's, you can have either a 1ohm load or a 4ohm load. The diagrams are here (I know it's the website of a Kicker competitor, but their "wiring wizard" is simply the best).

Hope this helps.

Amp repair advice

check on the board to see if there is a resistor that looks similar, 90% of amps amps are matched in there design, meaning the left side is usally a carbon copy of the right, so if you look at one side and there is a resistor that looks like it's in the same spot on the other side, good chance thats the same one, read the colors off the one thats not burnt up. resistors come in different wattages,1/8,1/4 1/2 up to 10 watts, each wattage is a different size, most of the ones you see in the amp are 1/4 watt but some are 1/2 and 1/8. some on the output are 2 to 5 watt, but those are generally 10-18 mm in length, they are big ones you cant miss those. so once you get the color code, read the colors, ex red, gree, brown, last line is either silver or gold, that will tell you the resitor value. then google resistor color codes and then you can match the color sequence with the value codes, and that will tell you the value you need in ohms but then you have to get the size 1/4 watt resistors are generally about 6 mm in legnth, im measuring the actual part of the resistor not including the metal leads, just the body, so if its larger its probally a 1/2 watt if smaller its an 1/8 watt, 1/8 watt are about 4 mm. now go buy the resistor, but you might find it that tough, if its a common value radio shack might have it, but resistors are so cheap, pennies for a handful, good luck on your search.

Wireing diagrams

Hello stingerman20,

Your Directed D2400 amp is CEA2006 Compliant. It is stable at 1ohm and will produce 1,200 watts into that load. So you want your subs wired as close to 1 ohm as possible.

The only 3500 watt Pioneer Premier series subs I could find were the models number TS-W3002D2 and TS-W3002D4 with dual 2ohm and dual 4ohm voice coils respectively. The wiring options for the D2's result in 0.5ohm (too low), 2 ohms, and 8ohms. Your best option would be the 2ohm configuration which would be voice coils in series and subs in parallel. Options for the D4's result in a 1ohm load and a 4ohm load. Your best option would be the 1ohm configuration which would be voice coils and subs parallel.

To see the wiring options, try Rockford-Fosgate's "wiring wizard".
Select 2 woofers and the appropriate voice coil impedance and quantity and click "search". It'll bring up all of the possible wiring configurations along with the final impedance load.

Hope this helps.

I want to hook up my 2 quad coil woofers to a 1ohm amp but

I would look up "series" and "parallel" wiring on the net. Parallel will lower your ohms, which is good- especially for you since your amp is 1ohm. use 1 channel of your amp (unbridged...bridging an amp could increase output, but will Raise the ohms) connect the positive terminal with a wire that goes to the positive on your first sub, and from there, connect a wire from that same positive terminal to the positive terminal on your second sub. do the same thing with the neg. wire. This is called parallel wiring.

No transmit after blown final was replaced.

I tried to answer this the first time you posted :). If the finals got burned that bad I found that the bias resistor sometimes will get a burned foil and not make good connection. Also 1/10 watt sounds like the driver isn't amplifying from the buffer. Might want to check for burns on the foil all around the final stages, including where the antenna connector mounts to the board. Don't believe the caps are blown but as a last resort.... Its really hard to troubleshoot without the radio on the bench . Good luck.

Vintage Stereo Connection ???

Hi spanky

Where to start :) I am excited thinking about them :p You got 2 totally cool pieces of classic vintage gear there in the C2 and the Marantz. I have a C2 preamp myself (gathering dust but wont sell it cos its excellent) and the marantz would be totally cool to have(but then I am a little biased towards 70's vintage marantz). They ruled the roost in HiFi amps throughout that decade.

Because they are both integrated amps, you could use them as standalone systems with a pair of speakers, and just plug your favourite gear into them. If you just wanted to run up a nice sounding HiFi, I would sell the kenwood gear and just keep the Marantz. The Kenwood kr1100 has the edge in power, so if it is grunt you are looking for use that. Because vintage sound is all about stereo, you only really need an integrated amp to get great results.

the specs are
# Kenwood Model Eleven G (KR-11000G) Receiver
120W per channel min RMS, both channels driven, at 8 ohms from 20 to 20.000 Hz with no more than 0.03% total harmonic distortion.
Dynamic power output 440W at 4 ohms
Power bandwidth 5 Hz to 70.000 HZ
Frequency response 5 Hz to 100.000 HZ -1.5dB
Signal to noise ratio 115dB

The marantz is a little lower in power at 75rms a channel, but will have the sonic edge in vintage sound over the kr1100. Look them up on ebay and you will find that they do have some value to collectors and people seeking nice tone. There is an 1152 for sale here for AU$900

Best bet is to fire up the 2 integrated amps, and see how they are going. Run them for several hours to be sure there is no strange noises and crackles. Then decide if you want power or finesse.

You could also run both amps from the C2 preamp by connecting to the Amp in connections to the rear of the integrated amps.

happy to talk to you more about it, hit me with a Fixya if my advice was helpful to you. I would keep the marantz, use that and sell the rest and buy some nice speakers:)

regards
robotek
