To get it back to normal . you have to go to settings
usb modes
and change the mode to mtp
if its on msc mode it does that
i have a sansae250 and my dad had to redo my whole machine so mine has 2 be on msc and when i un plugg it, it sais system restart and then it turns back on and then says reset data base with a loading bar going across it
how do you get videos on it

When i turn on it says key locked system shut down what does that mean

There's a slide switch on the top of the unit, near the headphone jack. Slide the switch away from the jack to unlock the unit.

When turning on the Sansa e260 it is now in the Key LOCKED mode

I had a similar problem with my e250. The problem was that one of the plastic arms on the lock switch had broken off. The one that locked it was still in place but the other wasn't, so I could always lock it but never unlock it.

Since you already know how to open the case, take a look at the switch at the top. Use a pen or something and slide it to the unlocked position (away from the headphone jack). Put it back together and see if it works. If it does, just remember never to lock it again.

Sansa e260, key locked

jeff,

I'm not familiar with SANSA but try this.
try to locate any slide switch from your MP3 player indicating
"HOLD" or a picture of a "lock" or a "key" then switch it backwards.

and in some cases this switch can also be locate at the headset unit if the headset does have a control buttons on it

cheer,
mark

Key locked system shut down

On the top of the player there is a slider. When it is showing orange next to it your player is "Locked" so accidental button pushing wont mess up your tunes. Slide it over so it shows only white instead of orange and your player should be just fine.

You have locked the keys, look for a switch with a red , white or orange lock icon and move it then try to turn it on. The switch should be on the side of the player, either at the top, bottom or sides of the screen.
