Page Cannot be Displayed-IE, Edimax Router BR-6104K

Hi there! I got this Edimax Router BR6104K with 1 port WAN, 4 ports. Problem is the error message I got from Internet Explorer displays "The Page Cannot be Displayed". Am using Smartbro for my internet. I did tried sending my router to the vendor where I purchased the router but they said, the router is working properly but when I got it on my shop it won't connect to the internet but the lights are on. Please help me! Thank you for your time. God Bless You!

Please help! can't fix it... the former thing was the usually thing I know. And burned my LAN card. maybe because it works 10-12 hours. That's why I switched using router instead... It was working fine Smartbro on WAN port of router and the 4PC's ok got netwrk and shared net. Then, server got infected with trojan horses viruses. I reformatted the server and get it hooked again on smartbro same setup smartbro on WAN's port of the router and the 4PC's on the 4-ports of the router. Netwrks fine and the internet explorer displays "page cannot be displayed". Now I don't want to come back again using LAN-LAN connection because when I were using the router I don't have to worry that my clients will complain that 'internet is disconnected' from the server. please help ... Thank you very much... GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!!

Smartbro account is used directly to the computers LAN port, not on the router, One computer should be made as the server, where the smartbro connection is placed... to share the internet connection... you should have another LAN card to share Internet throught the router... "See New Network Connection" you'll see examples of proper connection.

Good luck... Fixya...

Networking

Your router internet settings should depend on your ISP connection type. If you are on DSL, either your setting is PPPoE or just obtain IP automatically. If you have a username and password from ISP, select PPPoE and specify your username and pw. Check on the internet/WAN status if it says "Connected" and if it has Internet IP address.

Your modem should be plugged in to the internet port of the router while both your computers should be on plugged in to the LAN ports (numbered ports).

You may contact your router manufacturer for step by step assistance on the router setup. They should be able to restore your connection.

Hi...
Use the setup wizard under Internet Explorer - (go to: Tools, Internet Options, Connections, Setup) Choose the right connection after the setup... close the IE browser and reload it... If it doesn't work... you have to set the IP and DNS to Auto.... keep me posted if your still have problems.

How to use edimax br6104k with an smartbro isp

It's not a problem connecting to internet if your isp is smartbro, esp. if you are using a D-Link router..just plug in ur smartbro rj45 to the WAN port and connect ur pc to one of the 4 LAN port of the router that's all you can connect to internet..first time of course u have to input the username and password from smartbro in order to connect again..

Port Forwarding with BR-6104K

hope this helps
In vegas to forward a port with the zytell modem Sprint/Embarq our DSL provider you have to bridge your modem first and allow your router to pull your IP from your ISP. Then you can forward the port.
If you have DSL I would start by going to my ISP's website and look for instructions for setting up port forwarding or Bridging your modem.
Bridging your modem passes off traffic control to your router. on zytell modems you can also forward ports but bridging is much less technical
I have not run into CABLE providers cable modems having to do this
did you allow that port in your computers firewall?

Did you set up a static ip on the computer you want to forward your port for? sounds like it is required for you router
User manual: http://www.edimax.com/images/Image/manual/Wire/BR-6104K/BR-6104K_M.pdf

instruction site
http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Edimax/BR-6104K/ICUII.htm

to test the port connection you can go to http://whatsmyip.org on the left pane click on port scanner and choose custom to scan the port number you are attempting to open. you do have to have the application that will use that port running to get a result if it is a game ALT+TAB should let you out of the game without shutting it down to open a web browser this tool can save you a lot of time testing the port it will give you a open status when you have succeeded.

PPPoE over Edimax BR-6104K without a modem

HI,
Actually in short  "you NEED A MODEM;"
In order to connect your router you need to connect a modem in "bridge mode'( bridge mode is nothing but a configuration on the modem)..

this is a picture of  rear side of a  router,,, you have to connect the modem into the wan port of the router (above),, and in port number 1,2,3,4 you can connect your computers,
