Till date i din't use USB, and now currently its not working. some prob with the drivers. so i got new USB addon and now XP SP2 hangsup when it tries to install USB Enhanced Host Controller.... Hw do i go about this . help me
Hi thre
the problem lies not on the usb card but on the system drivers. please check windows update and check if there are any hardware updates. this will help.
as for the usb EHC, thats usually automatic whenever you have the correct drivers installed.
instead, you can try this if it helps,
Start>run>devmgmt.msc
right click on the usb MHC(which has this exclamation mark) and select properties.
the Hardware Update Wizard shall appear and select install from a list or specific location(Advanced).
this will prompt you to select on either drivers that are compatible to usbMHC and let you install it. dont hesitate to click even if the drivers are not verified. click next and follow the prompts.
this process may or may not solve your solution however this will help you understand better the process on how to install, renew, select drivers on your system.
hope this helps.
