Red Screen with Vertical Concave Lines

I'm thinking I have a problem with the Red Drive circuitry. Any Ideas??? If so what & where should I look since I dont have a service manual to help me.

I would try but now the TV will not come on at all. You can hear the highvoltage kick-in then the power led will begin flashing. Meaning its going immediatly into protection mode. Now what short of taking it in? If I had a full service manual I probably could fix on my own. But I dont see getting one of those anytime soon.

The set was working with just the B/G guns only when I had the circuit card pulled from the Red CRT's yoke. I put it back on last night to get a pic of the screen when it was solid red with the white lines. It showed the issue went into protection and now will not come back on at all.

Check the transistors and resistors on the CRT socket circuit board itself. Also try turning down the red drive a little this may eliminate the lines.

Vertical lines on the laptop screen

hi, the fault could be cause by a number of things, the Lcd harness cable maybe loose or faulty or even a mainboard issue, but it sounds like the matrix (circuitry)of the LCD is on it's way out.

The red blue and green lines are at the top of the screen, the colors are out of focus and the picture seems concave. the menu has a convergence label, but it does not appear on the screen

The supply for the convergance circuitry is off the flyback (high voltage) transformer. There are three fuses to the direct right of the transformer. One of these is probably open. Also re-solder or replace the rectifier diode off the blown fuse. This should solve your problem.

Try adjusting your Red screen control down just a little. This is usually a sign of the red crt developing a short. Often just turning the Red drive down just a bit will make the retrace lines disappear if not you will eventually need a new CRT or repairs in the red drive circuitry. Hope this helps.

Concave screen problem also

OK All these Compaq's have a Power Supply problem, or a Horizontal Voltage problem.. meaning they are on the way out. The SMPSU's in these units often fail along with the Horizontal Drive Circuitry. I think it is time for a new one? Repair of such a unint would barely be "Ecconomical" IMHO.
