1st......Operating System?????
2nd.....Run Device manager to ascertain RAM installed
3rd.....Download Sandra Lite to find M/B specs.(Free Download)
4th.....Check if RAM is SODIMM,SDRAM,DDR,etc
5th.....Open PC case to ensure RAM slots available.
6th.....Purchase correct RAM.e.g.128MB->256MB,256MB->512MB,512MB->1024MB
Check to see if RAM slots are paired or not
If paired....2X128MB=256MB

How do I know if my computer is bad

Unless you cannot turn on your computer, you know you have been infected by malware, receiving warning message upon boot up, or experiencing a performance issue; I wouldn't use the term bad I would rephrase to, "Is my computer obsolete?"

It's recommended to upgrade your computer's hardware every 3 to 5 years to stay up-to-date with the latest equipment and OS changes.

If your computer is older or in between 3 to 5 years old, then you should consider upgrading the computer's hardware.

On the other hand, if your computer is doing what you would like it to do within a reasonable processing time, you may get by for a while longer with your current setup.

Hope that helps

In samsung sync master 720 xt the windows xp embedded is not working so where to get its windows source and how to install it

sync master is a display and not a system.
what system.?
rule 1, if system came with XP, then get the restore disks
from THEM.
if not?

is this and XP question ,
did you know XP is DEAD !, MS is taking it off line for ever soon.
no support, soon. leaving virsus and malware , attacks wide open.
so, why use XP?
and nobody (legal) sells it, now. (all MS and ask....)
you might luck out and find an unused original disk. (NOS)
new (old stock)! its called , might be worth big cash as a collectible.?

with the MS logo and all, ive not seen one in may years.
i see only 2 on fleabay , and both are from EU, and are illegal.
ebay blocks most of these but some leak in. daily. do not buy em.

EX is vastly unsecure. and soon, this willl get far worse
if connected to internet and for sure EMAIL.
do not run XP if you do things , important to you .
better ?
if no cash,
get a $25 PC with at least 2 core processor.
I see them at The GOOD will all the time. with 4gb ram,
up date it.
and buy W8 upgrade.
ask for my free list of how to do that.

I tested W8 on an old pc with a old AMD Simeron, it ran ok.
with very little mem. say 2gb.
w8 is more efficient, even with metro not working.

or ask friends for a disc to barrow and run repair mode
dont expect a DELL Xp disk to worn on a non exacty matching DELL system, and the like.

Our monitor (less than six month old) won't power up.

This is 2005 model, 3 year warranty. 6 months old?

You will need to open it up, first thing to look will capacitors int ehpower supply, main AC fuse.
Please verify if it is only six month old, otherwise, take it back to where you get it from.

I have a 5-year old Sony 19-LCD monitor that stopped working. The little power-on light does not come on, and their is no picture, but I do hear a faint buzzing from the back. Sounds like?

smyko, Sounds like a tired out old "switch-mode-power-supply"/ "inverter CCFL power-supply!!! May require unit to be REFURBISHED with upgraded power suppllies and if the LCD screen had been displaying an increasingly dimmer screen, it may also need new "cold cathode-fluorescent lamps" installed. A technician who knows all about LCD monitors and their backlight "ELECTRONIC BALLAST" circuits will need to evaluate it. Check with sony and find out if you can do a "cash+old unit swapout for a factory rebuilt (refurb) same model type. Before you do any of that have a look at youtube for longer video clips of "LCD monitor disassembly" and "LCD monitor repair" just FYI. You will then know and understand what is on the "OTHER SIDE" of what you been looking at for 5yrs!!! Yes, they are trying to experiment with WHITE led arrays that won"t fail for 10 years. Remember lcd Panels last 8 - 12 yrs. Hope this helps. Bye for now. 12fixlouie

Try replacing your ram with a new one or any working one

if your ram is in good condition then check your motherboard if you dont know how to trouble shoot a mother the best way to go about is to use a new one or any working one compatible to your system

Speed Of Computer

the PC is most likely bloated with lots of useless software, viruses, malware etc, but upgrading ram will give the biggest increase in performance, I would reccoment atleast 1 GB for windows XP systems and 2 GB for windows vista systems.

Blank monitor screen

It appears that this motherboard has an on-board video port, I would recommend unplugging the video card and try using the on-board video. Make sure that when you do this, the BIOS POST screen shows, if it stops making the beeps, but still doesn't show anything, you might want to reset the BIOS (using the on-board jumper, sometimes also displayed as CMOS reset or password reset). If it still beeps, it might be the RAM, and you might want to see (if you have more than one stick of RAM) if you can try unplugging one or the other, or even switch their locations. Good Luck.

Monitor will not work after changing ram, what's wrong?

Open the computer case back up, after unplugging it. Take new RAM out. Check ALL cable connections inside, also take video card out and reseat it back into it's slot. Now power on computer. If video works then suspect bad RAM. Turn pc back off, unplug, reinstall new RAM, repolace case, but be certain No cable was accidently bumped or jarred aloose. before replacing case, plug pc back in and power on, if it still will not come on, then you have a bad RAM stick. Sned it back for a replacement. I have had a few of these over the years, I hope this helps, but let me know.
