1 Answer

Dvd player The dvd plays and it flashes a black screen about every 20 seconds. Nothing wrong with the audio though.

Mine does the exact same thing. It's driving me nuts. I've sent it in for repair twice. The screen blanks out even if a disc is not actually playing but the player is set to DVD/CD setting with just the splash screen displayed. So it can't be a DVD format issue.

I have a Coby dvd 505 home theater system and it's playing dvd's only in black and white Any suggestions?

There are a few possibilities. 1) You have the system on wrong broadcast system. Press the TV.Sys button on the remote. (In the US, you need the NTSC (analog) broadcast for older TVs). If you have lost the original remote, you need a replacement that matches the feature. See http://www.remotes.com/remotes/servlet/rs?a=gmi&uuid=12937326385240&smodel=DVD505&brand_pn=COBY_DVD505 for a substitute remote. 2) You have mismatched cables/inputs.

For the second issue, a composite video cable could be connected to a component video input. If both devices have component video, get a component video cable (red, blue and green for the video, separate red/white cable for audio); it isn't included with the player. Otherwise connect to the composite (AV) connections on the TV (yellow for video, red/white for audio).

If needed, you can reset the player as follows:
****RESET THE DVD PLAYER BACK TO THE DEFAULT SETTING***
1) Open the DVD tray.
2) Press the "Setup" button.
3) On the "Down" arrow, press it three times.
4) On the "Right' arrow, press it once.
5) On the "Down" arrow, press it three times
6) On the "Right" arrow, press it once, then press "Play/Sel" button.
7) Press the Setup button to exit.
*The default setting will take affect as soon as you press the setup button (step 6).

I hope this helps.

DVD will not play just get a blue plus sign coming down the display after th DVD sign graphic. TV screen shows digital and no disc. Any ideas lease?

is it a burned disk? if so your dvd player might not be able to play that type of dvd... i know sometimes also scratched ones won't play at all as well... of course also make sure everything is plugged in correctly and if it does this with more different dvds then there's something wrong with the player itself... which i hope is not the case as those are very difficult to fix yourself

Kef instant theatre - kit200

Nice player. I'm not lucky enough to own one myself, but I found this info which might be worth a try:

Kef Kit 100 & Kef Kit 200 Instant DVD Theatre handset hacks 1. Press & hold the "Skip Back" button, "Play" button & "Volume Up" button on the main unit.
2. After a few seconds the front display should display "PAL RESET"
3. Release the "keys.
4. Power off your unit at the mains.
5. After 20 seconds, power on your DVD player, thats it!

Not playing voice but playing music/surround

sounds like you may have a dodgy scart lead.check that none of the pins are loose/damaged. Also check the sound settings on the tv, it may have reset itself to the default sound setting. Or it might just be the audio settings on your dvd player have been adjusted, almost all dvd movies have there own audio adjustments.

Pulsing screen

Are you getting this on all video outputs from the DVD? the yellow analog out + the red/blue/green + the S video? Did you try connecting a different source? a digital cable TV tuner, or another DVD player? sometimes DVD players get screwed on some outputs, while the rest stay fine. I have a DVD that has an analog video out that shows an only black and white picture, while the red/blue/green works fine. Good luck
