a loose interfaced connection could caused this problem try to clean the connector and make another test attemp

You can push the button on the set, or buy a universal remote.

Try fixing your remote control
Take off the battery, open the back of your remote, lift the circuit board, clean the green painted part with cotton balls slightly damp with rubbing alcohol as well as the black thingy behind your remote pad, let it dry put it back together, replace with a new battery and try if it works.

Sounds like you  accidentally "set" the parental lock while you were sleeping.

Try this trick: (may or may not work)

aim the remote at the TV "IR sensor", hold down "display button" on the remote for 10 seconds to erase or clear the password.

"IF" this works go into the menu and "TURN OFF" parental control.
