HDMI crap out

I have an Olevia 232V that is firmware upgradable. Did an upgrade and now have no HDMI (no signal) shows on TV. Before upgrade TV would come on and say (no input) for a couple seconds then, picture would come on. Have a FIOS Motorola stb and called verizon out. They said there is a compatibility problem between the stb and TV and are working on a fix. If that is the case, why did my HDMI work in the first place before the firmware upgrade. Now back to component cables.

I got it fixed at Eltek since I was still in Vision's 3years warranty. Without the warranty, it would have cost me around $500 to repair it. However, just about 3months before my warranty ends, I found the same problem with my AV1, AV2. It is again, not picking up signal from the cable. It is getting frustrating now, I called Samsung, Vision and Eltek... but I already know the only thing they will tell me to do is bring it back to Eltek for repair. Even though on the 3year warranty plan said Vision can replace a similar product if they can't fix the problem. I call Vision up, they told me is been too long and they can't exchange for a similar item or help me with it, even though I am still under the warranty... I can bring it back to Eltek and get it fix for now but I know the same problem will happen again for my LCD TV and I will not be able to use those function (watching DVDs, HDTV) on this TV.

-   I'm having the same problem. Just did the upgrade thinking I was being smart before we have a movie night tomorrow night . . . and now my HDMI input to my Scientific America box from Time Warner won't show anything except for the tv's NO INPUT signal. What the heck?-   BadgerKyle

-   I have had my Olevia 32" TV for 4 months now. I just lost the HDMI feed to my TV. I checked my Verizon FIOS connection. After swithing to a cable output on the STB, I could get a regular signal to my Olevia. So, the STB is getting a feed. Therefore, I don't get the HD signals.
I am hoping it is just a compatibility issue or just a bad HDMI cable.

Let me know what else I can check on my own.

I got the solution. Contact Customer Service, ask for LEVEL II Tech, and ask them for the old firmware. It will take a lot of pressuring, but they will send it to you and then it will work fine!

I finally found a Verizon tech person that knew how to fix this problem. I had the same issues, especially when running an all-HDMI signal and switching to standard definition signals from high definition signals.

The tech explained:
"With your set top box on, and while you are receiving a signal, you should be able to see a new menu pop up on your TV if you press the buttons on the front of the STB in the following order: Power - Select - Menu. Third item down from the top is something called 4:3 override. Change it from the default (probably 480p) to 480i or stretch, or whatever it takes to change it from what it is. Power off the STB, and you should be able to switch channels fine"

It worked!

Hey guys, I've got the same issue with an Westinghouse and Verizon Fios box through hdmi and I was able to fix it by unplugging the Fios box for about a min or two and then plugging it back in. I don't know if that will help everyone, but I think thats gonna be what I do first.

I have Verizon FIOS with my new (less than 6 months old) Sony TV and an HDMI cable. Last night in the middle of a show, for no apparent reason, the TV showed "no signal". I called Verizon and they said this is a "known problem" with HDMI cables to TV's. They tried disabling my STB and then turning it back on. This did not work. They suggested I get component cables. This makes me really angry. If they knew about this problem, why didn't they tell me before I hooked it up? Also, it worked fine for 6 months and now it doesn't, and they said yes that's how it seems to go. They are working on a fix for it, and I can call the billing department and ask for an adjustment. I am wondering if Comcast would like to buy out my Verizon contract.vWho has time to go buy new cables and mess around with all this stuff?

same thing for me. I have FIOS with the motorola box and my father was telling me I should upgrade because their seem to places when watching HD that the picture would skip. So I did it and now my HDMI wont work. The weird thing is I also have my upconvert dvd player connected through a HDMI switch and after leaving that trying to connect for like 5 minutes it actually connects. Olevia has to fix this problem.
