Before you do all this, check the cord where it mounts to the handle up top by the pivoting strain relief. Frequently the cord goes bad right where it snaps in the strain relief.
first you will need to remove the handle, bag, and the cord. there is a release button for the handle, the mini emptor on the bottom of the bag twists off away from the body. there should be 2 screws on the scuff plate, one to hold the cord strain relief and another down by the transmission for the scuff plate. use a small flathead screw driver in the slot of the scuff plate and pry up. it will pop off. you should also take out the screw in the cord cover where it plugs, pop the cover off and remove the cord. now you can remove the top cover. there will be 2 screws in the front of the unit, and 2 screws under the scuff plate. they are either phillips or T15,T20 torx. remove those 4 screws and you can lift the top cover off and access the motor and the switch. check for bad motor carbon brushes and a worn commotator where the brushes ride. let me know if you need anything else.

Kirby G4 plugged in won't come on? Is there a reset button and where is it?

There is no reset on a Kirby. Remember that the motor will not run unless the bag assembly and vacuum head (or hose) are fully in place. If this is not the problem, the most likely causes are either a bad cord, a bad switch, or a worn or stuck carbon brush in the motor.

Hello can you help me please? I have a Kirby G4 vacuum cleaner, It did work ok until it started to give off burning smell and lots of sparks from the brushes. I have changed these brushes, the motor still...

Some debris, even sand or dirt, probably got into the motor, causing damage to the armature. If this is the case, you will need to replace the motor. The burning smell from the motor is generally a sure sign of a bad motor.

My kirby g4 will not turn on. I have checked the fuse and flex, the switch sounds good. pleas advice

ensure the front housing is properly fitted and the bottom of the bag housing that attaches to the machine, if these are not located correctly the safety switches will not allow the vacuum to start.
Could also be the mains cable, any damage may not be visible on the outside.
Or the motor brushes may be worn out, you will need a professional repairer for this.

Kirby G4 stopped working

maybe the impeller broke, that is the most common reason for '' loud noise''....then you must remember that the kiby will not switch on [ all G models ] if the bag and the front nozzle is not properly attached.....
