Since menu has color its a great prove that you have no problem with your TVs color. There are few simple causes can be easily eliminated. Check if the colors system chosen correctly (NTSC/PAL/SECAM) depends on source of the picture. Also adjust the Color under Picture settings option. If issue still persists please post for further assistance

I would suggest to check the color settings on your TV first. If the color settings are normal try to use the audio & video inputs by connecting a DVD or a VCR to them.
If you get the color back with a different device connected to it, It means there is a problem with the tuner or the color circuitry and more likely you will need to get the TV fix by a technician.

While looking through the TV menus, Look for "V2 COMPONENT-IN <NO>". chang that to Yes and you will get it in color.

Does it have a video input? Does it have color when playing a vhs tape or dvd into the video input?

Does the set show the raster lines? Is there any snow showing on the raster?

If the set does not show color with an a/v input either then it is likely the main power supply section feeding the deflection system or the video processing is bad.

RCA sets more than a few years old are not good investments for repairs, unfortunately.

Let me know the answers to the questions above and I can give you a more precise suggestion.

There are so many possibilities. It could be a dead projector tube, leaking cooler fluids, bad power supply connection, broken connector pin and so on. You really need someone who can get inside and find out the cause of failure; it requires one who knows how to observe, take measurements and track down the various possibilities. It is not an easy job on this one and it is not a home remedy solution, sorry to say.

For the beginner, here are two things you can do - and they don't cost anything.

ONE: Do a hard reset. Unplug the power cord for 4 full hours, then power it up again.

TWO: Give it the banging test. Smack the set vigorously with your hand or fist in various places. Doing so will often reactivate a loose connection or cold solder joint. This may bring the red gun back to life - let's give it a 35% chance of doing so.

If these two procedures don't help you are going to have to bring in the big guns.

Just a comment: There are over 3,000 parts in a set of this kind not counting the millions of transistors buried inside the several integrated circuits. There are about 12 totally independent sections that function on their own as well as interface with all the other circuits. It is not something easy to do. Even a trained and experienced PHD in Electrical Engineering does not have the foggiest idea about what goes on inside a tv without extensive training in television receiver theory and practice. So, don't feel overcome with it all; there are few who really know this business. IT is truly esoteric in nature.

I cant get my did/vcr combo to play on my Emerson TV. I all color coded cables attached. Help!

Not enough information for a good reply. Are you sure your tv is set to the correct mode or channel for vcr? Make sure both devices are on, your dvd/vcr playing if you can, and see if the tv on channel 3, channel 4 or channel 91 show that dvd/tape. Otherwise, try checking your remote control, MENU button and look for device options, or INPUT options, on the main menu.

Not able to get the auxillary channel. I know to channel down but it does from 1 to 125. I've tried the preset channels again - it doesn't show. Game is on. I have the remote. Any suggestions?

It's possible that the AUX channel was erased from the display menu. Go to your CHANNEL SET menu choice and and use your DOWN CHANNEL button to see if the AUX channel will come back.

It sounds like your grandson found the "monochrome" setting in the menu on your remote. It may be in the "picture settings", "set-up" or "advanced" setting.

Color problem

Please fine tune those B/W channels to obtain color picture. If TV is more then 4 - 5 years old, it needs resoldering in tuning area or might need replacement of IF block.

No color on one channel

Some models of TV's can remember the user settings for each channel programed. Go in to the user menu for the video setup and see if the colour (chroma) is turned down.
