Hi das4real! These are the things to consider.
  • Operating system disk - Try to test your Installation CD to other computer. If it doesn't work then you need to replace the disk
  • Optical Drive (CD/DVD Drive) - If Installation disk works then try to clean your Optical drive lens as it may be having a hard time reading the disk. Your Optical drive is working since you're able to format and able to start the installation. Cleaning the drive lens may do the trick.
  • Hard Drive - If Installation CD and Optical drive is clean. Then the last thing you need is to replace the Hard Drive. You Hard Drive might need replacement due to some bad sectors and the installation couldn't write anything on the drive that causes to freeze during installation.
I hope this helps you.

Running slow what should I do, did run cleaner and scan it and that about it

my72corvette ..nice car btw..ive had two myself (70 & 74)

anyway, disregard any post from anyone that suggests you format your computer..that should only be done as a last resort...you could have viruses, you could have to much running in the tray..it could be overheating.

i agree with mike258, formating it is easy, its getting it running again thats the tricky part, especialy if you never did it before.

DO NOT FORMAT YOUR COMPUTER!

# 1 what operating system are you running..lets get that out of the way first

I have a toshiba satellite and i am getting a blank screen with a cursor blinking in the top left corner

Try remove everything that attached on your laptop, Flash Disk, Floppy Disk, CD-ROM, or anything, just the laptop only without anything.

If still won't operate, it's the operating system crashed, try reinstall it with new ones, and you must format the Hard Drive during installations

You could save all your important documents, pictures, and things liek that, than than do a clean format of your hard drive, reinstall whatever version of windows you have (assuming u have the disk) and than reinstall all your drivers such as the chipset, processor, sound, graphics, modem, and ethernet drivers

I formated my c drive of my acer aspire 1640z, and when i try to restore with my restore cd i get the mesage boot manager is missing.can you help me pls?

Your restore disks also use fdisk and format to do the same thing you did this way by reformatting, but without all these extra hassles. Do you have a primary partition that is in active status? to check use a Windows boot disk or an MS Dos boot disk making sure that they have fdisk.exe,format.com,sys.com,and scandisk.exe
1.run fdisk and select option 4(display partition information)
2.if the partitions are listed then look for an uppercase A in the status column of your primary partition
3.if there are no partitions listed use fdisk to create new partitions and then use format to format the partitions.
4. then try your restore disks they should work, if you have already done all of this email me thescaleofanubis@yahoo.com and we will move on from there if you are still having the problems. Hoped it helped!!!

Hi , i have just bought a sony laptop which Visa is alreasy installed with just 1 partition ( C ) . is there anyway i can expand my partition like (D,E,F) without formating or need of any disc or software...

The only way I can think of without the use of any other software is to reinstall the OS. Since you just bought it there is nothing you'll need to back up. When it asks for location and size of partition, don't use the whole disk. Later you can use Disk Management to partition more.

CHANGED HDD FORMAT

The best thing you can do now will be to obtain a windows Startup disk and use fdisk utility to format.. If you are using a seagate HDD then you can also try seagate disk manager. Another option will be to boot from win XP CD and start the setup.. During the setup it will at some point it will provide you the options
1)format using NTFS
2)FOrmat using FAT
3)Format Using FAT32
From these choose format using FAT32. Thats all it will be formatted.. Afterwards you can use a tool like Partition Magic to resize and create more drives on the HDD.

Good luck!
Sai.
