I am having the same kind of problem on a S3 and a S5... the newer S5 is much worse and shuts down so much my son has given up even using it. The S3 I use at work and has similar problems but will work for a short time if I open and close the battery compartment... I have read that tighting the screws on the battery compartment door might help... will do this when I get home... also read that someone solved a similar problem with WD40 in the camera battery compartment... I hope this works... if it does I will report back.

I'm having the same issue with my S3. Tried 3 new sets of batteries - all different brands, but it shuts down and tells me to 'Change the Batteries'. How frustrating. My warranty just expired too. Sometimes I wonder... Anyhow - Help! Does anyone know what to do? I need to take product photos right now!

Camera will not turn on

I have had the same problem. Can be of two things.
1) Issue with the charging circuit. When you plug your charger on it should indicate a yellow light. If not, either your charger is not working or your charging circuit is not working. Go to the store and get them checked.
2) Issue with the battery contacts. Simply take out the battery and get a cotton bud and clean the battery contact both on the battery and inside the battery compartment.
3)Issue with the charging circuit and the internal circuitry. You will have to take it to the KoDAK store. I would recommend buying a new one.

Canon PowerShot A590 IS Digital Camera: Working one day, dead the next. Main batteries not the issue, tried new ones same deal. How can I diagnose? Does anybody repair these things or is it not cost...

I had the same thing happen to my A590. I found the problem with mine was a micro swtch inside the battery compartment. open the battery compartment and you will see the small white tap that is supposed to get pressed when you close the door. I took mine apart and wedged the end of a toothpick under the tab and mine has been working fine ever since. I haven't been able to get an answer as to what the purpose of this switch is but it's been about 6 months and I have seen no adverse effects from my repair.

Good luck,

My lightly used nikon coolpix s570 has developed a power issue. Meaning that with a fully charged battery, the camera won't turn on. sometimes removing and reinserting the battery will get it to turn on....

If you have a second battery, fully charge it and try it. If you do not have a second battery, it make either be a defective battery or a battery that is not properly charging. Try powering on the camera until you get it powered up, either by reinserting the battery or turning it one. Then purposely use the flash and focus until you totally exhaust the battery. Then charge it for the recommended time. Try the battery in the camera once more. Also look into the battery compartment and make sure there is no corrosion. After these actions, the only other thing I could suggest is trying a new battery or sending it in for repair. Usually it is the battery though.

My camera wont turn on even with fully charged batteries

Make sure that you have the correct battery type installed, and that the batteries are fresh/fully charged. If the problem persists, you may have corrosion on the battery contacts inside that camera that is preventing full battery power from flowing to the camera. Remove the batteries and wipe the inside camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sand paper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and reinstall them in the camera. This cleaning solves the problem about 90% of the time, and I hope it works for you.

Change the batteries message even with new NIMH RShack batteries

The solution is to change the small 'date/time' battery. You can have the regular batteries as charged as you like, it won't make any difference. The tiny date/time battery is in the same compartment as the regular batteries, on the opposite side of the hinge. Extract it with a fingernail, it is situated on the left hand wall of the battery compartment (when the camera is inverted and the compartment open).

When i hit power it does not turn on

Two possible solutions.

1. Your battery is dead and is not taking a charge. Replace the battery.
2. Blow some compressed air into the battery chamber to be sure there's no debri or dust messing with your connection. Be careful not to blow compressed air on the lens or in the camera body other than the battery compartment area

Samsung digimax 201 not turning on not even with fresh batteries

It could be anything... Did you over charged the batteries (if rechargeable)?

can you see if theres any broken tin inside the battery compartment?

does the power button taps normally when depressed?

is the camera still under warranty?

High battery consume

Short in the camera so you do not get proper switch off even when you switch the camera off ( so it stays on all the time ). Or your charger is not fully charging your batteries which then go into your camera say half charged and dont last very long.
