ASUS N50Vn Notebook Logo

My Asus N50Vn laptop speakers stopped working while playing a video game. They were not turned up loud at all so I decided to update drivers. That didn't work so I just did a clean install of Windows 7 x64 and they still do not work. Are my speakers shot?

I've had this problem.... several times. Its not a driver problem. You need to return the machine to ASUS if you are still within the warranty period. They can then repair it.
For me this meant replacing the Mother Board! I thought that this was quite a drastic measure. But it solved the problem. If you look online, problems with the onboard speakers is quite common with this model. There is speculation that putting a device in and out of the headphone jack may be the trigger. In any case, ASUS needs to repair this problem as you should not have to put up with this. Hope this helps.

Why "OpenGL/Direct3D" Problem ?

This isn't a solution as of yet but if you have updated everything and it runs fine for 14/17 minutes it could be that the card is overheating. I have run into this several times with gamers. The load on the card causes it to heat up more when playing games. Check and make sure all vents and the fan are clean for one. Over time they will clog and not cool your CPU and Video Card.
In other cases the video card is just not up to it. It will play for a time, overheat and then distort or stop working at all. Is that card adequate for the games you play?
One gaming laptop I worked on overheated and soon the graphics card would not work at all. Had to replace the motherboard.
First make sure it's not overheating, Second, check compatibility of your hardware to your game. Third, double check your drivers, completely uninstall then reinstall.
Hope this helps.

Asus ET2300 speakers not working well

My father and I just had that same issue on his brand new ET2300. I upgraded the sound drivers from Asus's website to the newest version V6.0.1.6826. That seemed to fix the problem. Once you play with the sound settings in the Maxxaudio (or whatever it's called) software, you can get it to really sound good.

I've been having an odd issue with my speakers on my computer. After some perfectly fine use, playing music, games, etc, the left speaker suddenly stops putting out sound. Plugging in my ipod, both...

Intermittent problems are always the hardest to diagnose but I would start by going to the device manager and deleting the sound drivers. Then a reboot and as your machine restarts it will reinstall the soundcard drivers and if the game has corrupted the drivers that should your your problem. Should it continue you will need to find updated drivers for Windows 7.

There is a physical wireless slide switch at the right of the indication light. It seems that you have to switch it on.

Asus n50vn combo fn+f2 stopped working.Lan and bluetooth are inoperative.

Hello!  I just posted I had a problem but now I've solved it. User LOSNAD posted the simple solution here.

I think we accidentally turned off the wireless switch. The switch is in front of the mousepad, to the left of the mic and headphone jack. OK!

Try reinstalling the video driver or updating it to a newer version.

Drivers and updated drivers can be usually found on the manufacturers website.
