Question about PC Laptops

HP Pavillion ze1000 laptop will not power up

I have a HP Pavillion ze1000 laptop that will not power up, I plug it into an ac outlet, the led in front is red for a few minutes then turns green. Can anyone help?

    I've got pretty good t-shooting and repair/soldering skills ( i work with automotive electrical and electronic systems). But with consumer electronics, i don't have a lot of experience. if you could point me in a direction, points/voltages to check, i've got the equipment to do so, i'd really appreciate it.

That could be one of many problems. bad power supply, loose power connector, zapped motherboard. that model as i recall, had those problems,

    try a 12 volt cigarette lighter plug in a car with the proper cable.

    i've had luck starting some laptops that way.

    then, one knows the power brick is bad.

Hp 764c will not power up


First check if your adapter is good. Most adapter has an LED indicator, then check your AC outlet. Be sure to firmly insert mthe plug of the adapter onto your laptop's power socket, most laptop do have an LED indicator. IF you haven't seen any lights, that means the adapter or the plug or the socket is bad.

I see that you said that you "powering on the AC adapter only".
Does that mean you tried booting with the battery removed?
If not, completely remove the battery and try to boot.
If that fails too, it will be a switch or board issue

My hp pavillion dv6700 will not power up all of the blue lights will flicker as i press the power button for a few seconds then it will power off. ive tried taking the battery out and running it strictly...



Your DC jack may be loose or broken off the system board.


Symptoms of a broken power jack
1. If you wiggle the power cord or the AC Adapter connector on the back of the laptop, the power LED and battery charge LED start to flicker.
2. Battery will not charge in the laptop.
3. Laptop runs fine off a charged battery.
4. With the AC Adapter connected the laptop appears to be dead.
No power LED or battery charge LED activity.
5. Laptop randomly powers off without any warning.

If your laptop is out of warranty, then you can fix the problem by re-soldering DC-IN jack on the system board. If it's still under warranty, it would be fixed at no charge to you.

I have a hp 6735s laptop. Its just out of warranty. When plugged into the mains adapter it is no longer charging the battery. This means it only works when plugged in. Have i inadvertantly set the...


best way is to just try out the battery on another laptop, or try another battery on yours. If the laptop is not very old, and I suppose yours isn't more than 2 years old, your battery shouldn't be dead.

Go to Control Panel > Power Options
You will need to change the setting for when it is connected on battery and when it is connected on power.

Pavillion dv2025nr Blank Screen, but all LEDs on.


VGA card problem..that's what tech told me & changed it 3 times...but still laptop goes off.(exactly like u described)...they finally said need new motherboard??? so VGA will not do this again!!!! I don't know, If I change motherboard...will this happen again...is it worth it??? My pavillion dv 2000 is only 1.5 years old..was expensive??/

Description.

When pressing the notebook power button nothing is displayed on the screen or display. The cause of this problem may be a failed AC adapter, the memory modules (RAM) need to be reseated or a failed notebook system board component which will require an HP certified repair.

Below steps will assist in identifying the cause of the problem and suggest the best solution. Test the AC adapter Follow the steps below to determine whether the problem is related to the AC adapter or your notebook system board.
  1. Remove the battery and disconnect all external devices from the computer.
  2. Hold the Power button for several seconds, with all power sources removed. This drains residual power from the system, and may correct many problems.
  3. Connect the AC adapter to a wall outlet and plug the other end into the computer.
  4. Press the Power button to start the notebook PC.
If the notebook does not start or the display is blank then check the power indicator light or power socket LED. Check the power indicator light or power socket LED On newer models of notebook PCs, there is an LED or indicator light around the power socket on the notebook. Check to see if this light is on or off, when the notebook is plugged into AC power.The power indicator light or power socket light should turn on when the AC adapter is connected.

  • If the light does not turn on then the problem is most likely related to the AC adapter or the electrical source in your home or office. Go to the Light does not turn on section on this page.
  • If the light does turn on but the notebook does not start or the there is a blank screen then continue to the Light does turn on but the notebook does not start section on this page

The light does not turn on when the AC adapter is connected If the power indicator LED is off, the AC power adapter may need to be replaced. To determine if the AC power adapter needs to be replaced follow the steps below:
  1. Ensure that the AC adapter is plugged directly into a known working wall outlet.
    NOTE: To check the wall outlet, plug in a different known working device like a light, radio etc.
  2. Check all of the following connections:
    • The connection from the power cord to the wall outlet.
    • The connection into the power adapter from the power cord.
    • The connection from the AC adapter to the notebook power socket.
  3. Press the power button again to test the notebook PC.
If the power indicator light still does not turn on, then the AC Adapter needs to be replaced. Contact HP Service and Support for further assistance. Power socket LED or power indicator light is on but the notebook does not start If notebook power indicator light (LED) is on, the AC adapter is working correctly. The problem is a result of a hardware failure in the notebook itself. In some cases, reseating the memory module (RAM) may solve the problem.
