Adding a graphics card

I have a Scenic D1961 PC motherboard using Shared graphics. I want to run Photoshop software and would like to add a graphics card to my PC. Is there a manual for this motherboard on the net or does anyone have details of any jumper switches I need to change if I add a graphics card or will it automatically pick it up at boot time?
Any help or advice gratefully received.

It will pick it up automaticly... no jumpers or switches. Just seat it correctly in the slot... it is real logical not too complex.
The Port or Slot type is important.
Blue Slot is Epress PCI
Brown is AGP
and White is regular PCI
Use the Slot closest to the CPU and buy the Card that fits there.
NVidia Chips have the Best Proformance for the dollar. Keep you cost under $100... ask for the best bang for the buck from the techs. Advise them you CPU Type and Speed.

Hi,
Most motherboards detect an add-on graphics card automatically so all that's required is top plug your monitor into your new graphics card and install the software that comes with it.

Best wishes,

I have a Gigabyte GA-K8VM800M Motherboard with 2gb ram. I want to disable the onboard graphics card and add another VGA card. Which card should I go for?? Will adding VGA card, show physical memory as 2gb...

Hello you can download the manual, and drivers here:

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=1810#manual

You can add a graphic card 1 x AGP slot (8x/4x-AGP 3.0 compliant), supports 1.5v display card only.
And Max capacity: Up to 2GB DDR400 RAM by 2 DIMM slots.

ATI/AMD makes very good graphic cards.

Adding a graphic card on the mainboard will not slow the physical memory. It has it`s own ram.

Good luck

Describe your fujitsu scenic D i845GE -PM

The Fujitsu Siemens Scenic D i845 desktop computer, has an Intel 845GE motherboard chipset.

Primer:
Motherboard Chipset.

The Northbridge, and Southbridge chip, is the motherboard chipset.

Chipset, and Chip are slang terms for I.C.
Integrated Circuit.

Motherboard diagram showing the relation of the Northbridge, and Southbridge chip,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Motherboard_diagram.svg

(CPU stands for Central Processing Unit, or for short - Processor)

The Northbridge chip handles the Processor, Ram Memory, and high-speed graphics.
(Such as AGP, or PCI Express. Not a graphics card inserted into a PCI slot, and not Integrated Graphics)

The Northbridge chip handles the faster capabilities of the computer.

The Southbridge chip handles the slower capabilities.

Such as anything inserted into a PCI slot, Integrated Graphics, IDE, SATA, and USB, to name a few.

The Northbridge chip used on the Fujitsu Siemens Scenic D i845GE, is the Intel 82845GE

The Southbridge chip is the Intel ICH4.

Authirization code

unfortunately that is something only the manufacturer can provide. You can try looking on the internet, search through well-known Photoshop forums and see if someone might have shared their auth code on there

While playing video games or watching videos on youtube my desktop will glitch/freeze. The screen distorts and freezes.

Do you have a graphics card built onto the motherboard which uses "shared" memory? If so, your options are twofold: Add RAM to the maximum your motherboard will support and/or add a separate video card that has it's own memory. Newer games and YouTube both use video memory and system resources like no other application.

Will this motherboard support adding a new video card?

Yes, but it has to be strictly a regular PCI video card. You cannot use an AGP or PCI Express card.

Here is a link to available cards through Tiger Direct:

PCI Video Cards

Another thing to remember is that you may need to change an item in your BIOS to turn your On-board video off.

Thanks for using Fixya.

For adding an additional graphics card

Your board only supports AGP 4x graphic cards. You should be able to use any AGP 4x card or even some AGP 8x cards. Some of the 8x cards are backwards compatible but will run at the slower 4x speed. You can try places like TigerDirect.com or Newegg.com to see what they have available. Hope this helps & please remember to rate my answer. Thanks.

LG flatron L1710S PC Monitor

Depends on what motherboard you are using. IF this is indeed the case, you can still put a CHEAP add-on graphics card on the motherboard and get the system up and running with minimum expenses. Most motherboards support adding an additional graphic card besides the onboard chip.
