I am having trouble sending and receiving
Solution #2 does not work. The unit still does not answer faxes and you hear fax tones on the answering machine. We tried it. Our unit does send faxes though. People get them with no problem. Here is what we did to solve the problem. We took out our older all in one Lexmark and put it somewhere out of the way. We hooked a phone line to it and set it up to receive faxes using distictive ring pattern. So it receives faxes and our Kodak is used to send faxes. It is sad that Kodak did not create a fax unit able to handle DRPD or able to accurately monitor the line and pick up fax calls.
Hi guys... If you are using a answering machine you need to set the 5500 printer to YES. You can do this by going to Home center then go to configure settings and then go to fax. For example, your answering machine is set to pick up the phone call after 4 rings so the fax should be set to 3 rings before it would pick up the call/fax .Just look on that screen then if dont have a call waiting make sure that the "disable call waiting" is uncheck. Also see if the phone cord is connected at Line 1 not the ext 1 or else it will give you a busy tone..
Just found your post and I'm having the same problem. Everything else seems to be working correctly. I can copy, scan, print and I THINK I can send a fax correctly, I should have called the person and made sure it arrived. However, I cannot receive faxes. I have an answering machine on the line, but it is not plugged into the Kodak Pinter, it is in another room. The answering machine answered the call, the FAX noise came across, but the Kodak Printer never picked it up and printed out the fax. I think I have all the settings correct, but the instructions are not very clear. Do you think I HAVE to have the answering machine plugged into the Kodak Printer? That doesn't make sense, but I might try it.
I recently purchased an Easyshare Aio. I cannot send faxes, the line is always busy, sometimes with a fast busy signal. I can receive faxes. Any advice appreciated.

I am having trouble receiving faxes. I have DSL and answering machine. The instructions given by Kodak regarding my set up are not working.
I am having the exact same problem. We even sat on the phone with Kodak for an hour and they can't figure it out. If you turn the unit to always answer, it always answers the fax and does just fine, but when you set it up to monitor the line and detect the fax tones and answer the fax, it never will answer the fax. It is irritating. We can send faxes but we cannot receive them. We are going to resort to using our older fax machine to receive faxes. Kodak also did not put DPRD on their 5500. This would have helped solve the problem. They don't appear to care that we are all having this problem and their solutions don't make sense.
I can neither send nor receive, tried different fax numbers same result...thing gives me a busy signal or overflow (fast busy) every time...I also downloaded their latest firmware for the printer...still exactly the same problem. Frank
I have sent two successful faxes since I purchased the EasyShare so I know that it can work. With all other attempts to send outgoing faxes to this same recipient I can hear the line ringing then I get a "busy" error message. However, when I dial that same number from the non-fax line in our home I hear the fax beep on the other end. I do have a digital fax and non-fax line and have the filter connected as provided when the numbers were installed. Any help would be appreciated as I'm having to travel to an office supply store to send faxes. I am able to receive faxes okay though.
iI can not reieve a fax. I have it set for 2 rings and it jus keeps ringing.
All the line are in place, and the ansering machine is off.
I need help.
Kodak 5500- w/answering machine. Can send faxes fine but cannot receive faxes no matter where we set the rings on both or whether answer machine mode is yes or no?? This is the 4th fax machine i have set up and the first that has this problem. Have been on the phone off and on with Cutomer service for an hour and a half!!! Help!
fax not book
always gets a busy signal .won't send out fax.could you help me?
I can receive a fax but cannot send because I get a busy signal. I unplugged every phone and modem in the house and plugged in ONLY the fax by itself into one jack and still got busy signal. I tried the fax in another room's jack as well and had same problem. I checked the setting to make sure it was on "tone dialing" instead of "pulse dialing" but that wasnt it. I tried going through the modem (DSL) filter and again without it and nothing.
I am thinking that the 5500 fax is confused or somehow affected by the DSL signal that comes into the house jack from outside. That is all I can think of.
Please help.
What exactly is the problem when you try to send or receive a fax? Are you getting some sort of message?
