We also have a new Whirlpool model GH7208XR with the same error F2.Q1 Touch FMEA. The microwave worked fine for the first day or so then this error appeared occasionally and now it is constant. When it would come up you couldn't turn the light or fan on or off. If the they were on they would stay on and couldn't be shut off (except by unplugging the power of course). If off when the error appeared nothing could be turned on.We also have a new Whirlpool model GH7208XR with the same error F2.Q1 Touch FMEA. Used the microwave for a few days. During cooking it would stop with the F2.Q1 touch FMEA error code. The error code now stays on most of the time. Guess its time to call the manufacturer. One thing to do before you start disassembling the door: The touch pad connects to the turntable and other functions via a pair of connectors just to the left of the lights. Since these are located directly above the stovetop's cooking surface, your problem may be moisture accumulation on these connectors. 1. Remove the bottom panel; and locate these connectors. 2. Disconnect and clean both sides of these connectors with electrical contact cleaner. 3. Reconnect and test. Good luck, m
I have a KitchenAid over the range microwave/convection oven that gave me The F2.Q2 screen of ***** error this evening. I tried the above, had to take the plastic connector apparatus completely apart as I found it was not assembled correctly with the connectors, put it all back together, cleaned the male part of the turntable connector, reattached, and boom! Working like a charm again. THANK YOU!!I have a KitchenAid over the range microwave/convection oven that gave me The F2.Q2 screen of ***** error this evening. Ditto on trying the above post from Aug 26, 2009. Removed the 11 Torx screws on the bottom of the microwave and found one of the connectors disconnected. Net/net 10 minutes of work saved me a $125 service call. THANK-YOU!!!Ditto on trying the above post from Aug 26, 2009. Not sure what you mean by "Q1 Touch FMEA" above, but F2 error code indicates a bad keypad or sometimes a bad sensor.
Since it's brand new I would first consult the manual. If you don't have it still, you can download it from the owner center here: http://whirlpool.com/custserv/index.jsp
If you still have trouble, since it's new, it should obviously be under warranty, so I'd contact them (same page as shown above) to get it repaired under warranty.

Per the tech sheets (page 8), "F2" error code means "Keyboard failure". Recommended by the manufacturer to replace the touch panel first and, if it would not solve the problem, then the control board has to be replaced too. Not the best recommendation but we have to follow it.
- The part number for the touch panel (aka a membrane switch) is AP3130765
There is a problem with the control pad. The membrane, or surface, of the pad may be broken or damaged somewhere, resulting in the F2 error code. This is common for Whirlpool microwaves.
Press "Stop/Cancel" twice and select a new cook program. Press "Start" to begin. If the error code persists, press "Stop/Cancel" again and unplug the microwave. Wait several minutes and plug it in. If the F2 code appears again, it requires repair.
but the internals of a microwave are dangerous, having high voltages even when unplugged. With the cost of parts and labour from a service tech, you may be best buying a new oven.
The error code "F2" that appears on your KitchenAid microwave refers to a keyboard failure/short on the front button panel or loose keypad connector
Attempt the following to clear error:
Check keypad connector for firm connection.
Press "Cancel" after the error code is noted, if error code returns after 60 seconds, replace keypad ( also called touch pad or membrane switch ).
There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control
panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very
helpful when troubleshooting, & testing.
F2.Q1 Not reading keypad
inputs
1. Unplug microwave oven or disconnect power.
2. Replace the user interface board (UIB).
3. Replace the door control assembly.
4. Replace all parts and panels before operating.
5. Plug in microwave oven or reconnect power.
Many of the error codes may be solved by power cycling: unplug microwave oven or
disconnect power. After one minute, plug in microwave oven or reconnect power.
i found this info on a tech sheet hope this helps, let me know how it goes... some of those electronics had 5 year parts warranty i would check that out....Also u might be better of buying a new one if its out of warranrty as some of those boards are expensive, obvioulsy unplug unit first try to reset it self.
F2 E0 is a shorted keypad. Replace the keypad which is your entire touch pad. In rare cases your ERC or electronic range control can also be bad, unlikely though. Hopefully this is still under warrantee as the part alone is over 150.00. I recommend you have a technician replace this as most parts houses will not warrantee a electical part if a customer installs it. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists.
1. Unplug microwave oven or disconnect power.
2. Replace membrane switch.
3. If problem persists, replace electronic control.
4. Replace all parts and panels before operating.
5. Plug in microwave oven or reconnect power.
The answer to your question is YES. I would venture to say the PART is - but not the labor. You would need to read your warranty to confirm.
