Check to see what format your computer burns on.[ex:dvd-r, dvd-rw,dvd-+r,dvd-+rw]different dvd players play certain dvd formats.the format for burning on your computer is probably different from the dvd players that aren't playing the disc.you also must finalize the burned disc.
good luck

Depends how old or what model your DVD player is ? When I burn DVD's with my video editing software on my computer, some disks will not play on certain older DVD players, has something to do with video codes that the DVD player has to read? My experience is that my older DVD players will not play burnt DVD's from my computer, but will play in newer DVD players ?

We can't get any computer in the house to read the DVD that we recorded with the DCR-DVD108 camcorder. The camera itself reads it just fine. What can we do?

Ha well now you see why most people who make cameras have decided to drop the DVD disk and go tape, it is the only good way to record you see, mostly because hardly any DVD player is compatible with each other.
Did you close that camera disk once you stopped filming? no then that is why it will never play.

Finalizing the DVD

Well this sounds like the disk was removed too fast from the camera before it had ended writing, you need to stop filming, wait at least 1 minute then remove disk because it ends the disk write not you yourself.

I have downloaded the software, can burn a DVD,

Some DVD players require the disk to be finalized before they can be played, and older DVD playes may require that you used -R DVD disks.

If you are already using an -R disk, check to see if the movie has been finalized. (If you are not sure how to do this, check the help file). If you are not using an -R disk, try using one.

Good Luck

Unaible to down load vidio data from canon dc310 to my pc

Try to copy directly Your camera disc to conventional DVD, without downloading files to computer. It is possible with Nero Burning Rom in a disc copy mode. And before it, try to play an original at Your DVD player, or from the camera direcly to TV. If it works, then make a direct copy as well. Another solution is insert original dvd to computer and copy all carpets directly from dvd to HDD. Then, using MPEG Streamclip (free program) test Your files. If You can see the image - perfect. Any video can be converted a DVD format without problem.

Neither my computer or DVD player have been able to detect the disk.

before you try to play the disk, you need to finalize it as the camera needs to add the index to the DVD inable for the DVD player to read it.
try it and it will work, but always remeber to initialize your disk before recording on it

Playing dvd's from camcorder on laptop...

I have this video camera. It seemed like a good deal at $200 at Christmas time. It is suppose to be able to record on DVD-R, +R disks. (re-writable and write disks) I have had issues with not being able to finalize the disk. I found you needed to keep at least 5 minutes on the disk to finalize it. It will not play in any DVD player or a Computer till it is finalized. The info stored on the disk is in RAW form. Finalizing it will create a "lead in" and "lead out" and a menu for your computer and/or DVD player to understand. A large part of whether it will play or not, is what is your DVD Player or DVD Drive on you computer capable of? DVD Players usually will play anything that has been finalized, same with your DVD drive on your computer. BUT! Yep there's a but, sorry. DVD players and DVD Drives sometimes can only read one type of disk. Either a DVD-R or DVD+R, some may not be able to read a re-writable disk too. Look through your manuals on your Laptop and your DVD Player(s) and try to match the correct media (i.e. DVD-R or DVD+R Write or Re-Writable) I found that between my PC and my DVD Player, that DVD+R would work without a hitch for both electonics. Download that software that Samsung gave you in with the video camera. It may end up loading the driver software to help you're computer to recognize the video DVD you are trying to play. Oh, and make sure you really do have a DVD player/burner drive installed. I went to play a movie on my wife's Laptop and found it came with a CD drive and no DVD drive. That's not what I ordered and I was about a year to late to complain to the company. :( Hope that helps.

Will not play on computer

Before you can transfer pictures or video from your Canon DC210 to your PC you need to finalise the disc in the camcorder.

You also need to make sure that the DVD drive on your PC is capable of reading a DVD-R, DVD-R DL or DVD-RW format as these are the only disk formats that the DC210 will handle. Not all PC DVD drives can read these formats.

To finalise the disk you must have the power adapter connected to the camera, plugged into a wall socket and turned on. Then, switch on the camera, put it into playback mode, Press 'Func.', select main menu, select 'disk operations', select 'finalise'. Don't move or shake the camera or switch it off whilst the finalising step is underway - this could cause problems.

Once finalising is complete, put the disk into the PC.

Good Luck.
