We have seen many large flat screen TVs do this. It is usually one or more bad capacitors on the power board.
  • A cap is a few bucks and easy to replace if you can desolder and solder.
  • You need to identify the bad capacitor.
  • The bad cap will look buldged out or extra fat and deformed.
  • The small cross on the top of the cap usually splits when they go bad.
  • (This is because of a chemical reaction in the capacitor that expands therefore leading to the buldging.)
  • Find the bad cap and replace it.

Test your PSU or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty

Test all power and data leads that attach to your hard drive IDE,SATA

the leads from your MOTHERBOARD TO YOUR HARD DRIVE make sure they have a secure dust free connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty

if its a 40 pin flat ribbon type it will be the fist to fail
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be

faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

How to clean fingerprints from screen

Microfiber is your best solution - it picks up dirt and oils rather than smearing them around which can lead to scratches on you screen. And all you need is a little water - no chemical product needed.

We have an LCD TV monitor and also a flat screen imac - both of which require TLC when cleaning. I've been using microfiber cloths made by a company called Norwex. I use a damp enviro cloth to wash, and then their nifty and amazing microfiber window cloth to dry - it works wonders!

You can't buy them from your local stores, but you can purchase them online - a great site to buy from is

No powerr

If the led comes on for an instant and then faints quickly, leaving the TV with no led, no blink code, and no power at all, then the fault is usually concerning the PSU board, or the power connection. If you already replaced the cable, the next step is looking for bad solder joints on power cord connector, and then testing and eventually replacing PSU board.

Screen flashes only for a split-second (as a second display for an iMac)

The inverter is faulty. If your Monitor is powered by a mains'kettle' type lead, then it MAY be repairable, provided you can find someone to do it.If you have an external power supply, then the chances are you have a separate inverter, and it is doubtful whetther you can find the fault or a replacement circuit board....which is why we have become a throw away nation !!
