Can you open the folder and the file are "invisible" or is the computer denying permission? Which Operating System? (XP? Vista? Linux? Ect?)

For now, unplug unit from computer, take batteries out, shutdown computer and reboot. BE SURE TO SHUT DOWN PROPERLY!!!
After, try it again. If your using the prompt from Windows to view folder, you may want to try going through Start-->(My)Computer-->Disk D:, E:, F:, or whichever.

I cannot get my pictures to upload onto my computer...usb cable is plugged into camera and computer...but nothing happens

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Hello. I lost my codec "install" CD for my Vivitar ViviCam DVR-565 Hard Drive Camcorder camera. How can I get the driver "codecs" now? Cannot find them "online". I need them desperately - in...

Transfer media from my camera to my computer manually (Using Windows)
1. Use the USB cable that came with your camera to connect your camera to your computer.
2. MSDC appears on the LCD.
3. A window appears with a list of options, select "Open folder to view files" and click OK.
4. Open the DCIM folder and the folder inside to view the media files.
5. Select the media and copy the files from this folder into your computer. Optionally, select the files and choose Copy from the Edit menu. Then select a folder and choose Paste from the Edit menu.
6. We recommend that you copy the images into the Pictures/My Pictures folder and the videos into the Videos/My Videos folder.
7. Do not disconnect the cable during transfer. Doing so will cancel the transfer of any files on their way to your computer.

This camera does not need specific drivers from Vivitar (driver=instructions for hardward like a camera)
If you miss the old program you can probably download from the vivitar site their "Vivitar Experience Image Manager". If you're having a problem with codecs (the information your computer needs to decode video formats so you can watch them) you can get all the latest codecs by going to google and typing in "download matroska pack" and download the matroska codec pack.

I have lost my cd, can i download it and can you point me in the right direction please

Do you really need it, if you plug it into a USB Port does it not get recognised as a "Mass Storage Device" and then just click "open folder to view files using widows explorer" and view/drag n drop your pics that way!

Error 27.2 showing when trying to upgrade the software

I finally figured this out. The problem is that the software files on the camera are locked. To see this, open a Finder window and view the contents of the FlipVideo device. Click "Get Info" on most any of the files. Note that the "Locked" checkbox is checked.

Solutions:
1) You can go through all the files and Unlock them. It is hard to get all of them.
2) Create a folder "old" on the camera. Move all of the files (except DCIM and Info.bin) to the "old" folder (in case Step 4 fails). You may have to unlock them to move them.
3) Go to /Applications and right-click on FlipShare. Choose "Show Package Contents". Go to Resources/Upgrade.
4) Copy all the contents of the Upgrade folder to the Camera. That's what the upgrade program was trying to do.

After that, try the camera to make sure it works. After you are sure, you can delete the "old" folder.

Just use Quicktime. It works for me and it's free. plug into USB port. should mount on desktop. Go to folder DCIM then 100MEDIA and just drag and drop the MOV files in the folder of your choice.

I hv lost the cd which comes with jvc hard disk camcorder gz-mg130e/ek i cannot find it on the net ..where shall i find it??

The software that comes in the box with the camcorder is a Cyberlink Bundle of Power Producer, Pwer Director and Poxwer Cinema... Power Cinema allows you view your DVD's while the other 2 allows for editing and production of you movie title and backing up and browsing your titles Pics and movies..... Unfortunately you cant download this software anyware on the net for free. On the Cyberlink.com you can download a free 30 day trial to the software but would eventually have to purchase a new copy.

There is an alternate way to access you mivies in the meantime... by changing the the file extension to .mpg after you drag and drop your files off you computer to you desktop or selected folder.

Steps:

1. Connect you usb to you computer and camcorder
2. Camcorder ask do you want to playback, backup, create dvd, direct print.... Choose playback
3. Option pops up on your computer.. Select "Take No Action"
4. Go into My Computer and open the E: or Everio_HDD
5. >>For movies- Select SD-Video - Folder PRG002 or PRG001 are where your movie files is located
Drag and drop .MOD files to your desktop **.MOI files are indexes of the .MOD files and will not convert **

>>For Pictures- Select DCIM - Folder 101JVCSO or 100JVCSO - Drag and Drop to desktop - NO FILE CONVERSION NECESSARY

6. Change the file extension to .MPG

** If you find yourself haveing issues changing the file extension, open my computer... select tools... go to folder options.... uncheck "Hide extension for known file types", check it back when your finished if you have kids.. I do for my computer.***

**You are simply creating copies of your files when you drag and drop you movies and pics***

These step will allow you to view back you movies using Windows Media Player until you get your software.

Hope this helps

Viewing video files on camera

I referenced the manual, and with the help from David at a local 1 hour photo shop, he helped me rename the files correctly and copied them and moved them to the EXMOV folder and back on the camera.

Ok so all you have to do is open the battery door so it wont turn on and then hold the camera record button on the top until I say so. Plug it into your comp and then wait. it should say found mass storage device. Then you will see it under my computer. You can just drag and drp copy and paste the vids and play them with windows media player. (you can let go of the botten when windos detects it.)
