Lost bios password which was the serial and dont have it is there a way to bypass

Hello

First, remove the case to look at the motherboard, so we can try resetting the CMOS battery. This battery looks a shiny little disk the size of a nickel. Pry the battery free gently, and reinsert the battery after 10 minutes. If this worked and you don't see the password prompt, you don't need any more steps; the problem is fixed. In my experience, two or more additional steps might be necessary depending on the make of the BIOS. Unfortunately, they don't all respond to the same tricks.

Next, now that the case is already removed, locate the jumpers near the edge of the board or near the CPU or the CMOS battery. Once located, find the label that will say clear CMOS, or clear password, etc. Place the jumper over the pins and boot. If this works, no more steps are needed. If it doesn't work, read on.

The third step to try is to enter a password. When you receive the password prompt, try one of the following passwords. If you have an Award BIOS, try these; AWARD PW, ALFAROME, or _award. If you have Phoenix BIOS try, CMOS, PHOENIX, or BIOS.

If none of these things have worked, as a last resort, try a software utility that resets system passwords. These utilities can be found online.

Toshiba L305-S5968

What i did when this happened to me was to locate the motherboard battery, removed it for about 30 secs and put it back in. Doing this will reset your bios.

Make sure to unplug the machine first before doing so.

Hope this helps!

I can not remember my power on password toshiba l305. the unit can not boot, bios cmos can not help.

If you can take the unit apart enough to reach the CMOS battery, remove it for about 20 minutes, then put it back in. This will rest the BIOS password.

Be sure you remove the regular battery first before you open the computer up.

Did this resolve your issue? If so, please rate it.ty.

Please help me reset my bios password on acer travelmate 2410

First you need to remove the laptop battery at the back side. Find some screw there and remove it locate the CMOS battery and jamper.

The BIOS password is stored in CMOS memory that is maintained while the PC is powered off by a small battery, which is attached to the motherboard. If you remove this battery, all CMOS information (including the BIOS password) will be lost. You will need to re-enter the correct CMOS setup information to use the machine. The machines owner or user will most likely be alarmed when it is discovered that the BIOS password has been deleted.

On some motherboards, the battery is soldered to the motherboard, making it difficult to remove. If this is the case, you have another alternative. Somewhere on the motherboard you should find a jumper that will clear the BIOS password. If you have the motherboard documentation, you will know where that jumper is.

If not, the jumper may be labeled on the motherboard. If you are not fortunate enough for either of these to be the case, you may be able to guess which jumper is the correct jumper. This jumper is usually standing alone near the battery. If you cannot locate this jumper, you might short both of the points where the battery connects to the motherboard.
