I took possession of my camera several hours ago. Pulling my hair out as I am unable to close the door hence unable to use camera. Pretty sure I inserted both the battery and memory card correctly. Cover just wont click into place and I am unable to remove the battery.
Please help!
Close the [Memory Card / Battery Cover] securely, and then turn the power on.
Clean the battery terminals with a dry cotton swab that has a fine and soft tip, and then re-insert the batteries.
If your camera uses four AA-size alkaline batteries supplied with the
camera, follow the procedure below. In addition to Alkaline batteries
you may use optional nickel metal hydride (NiMH) batteries.
1. Be sure that the camera power is off.
2. Slide the battery cover lock in the direction of the arrow, and push the battery cover slightly forward. Then open the cover.
3. Insert the batteries as shown.
4. Close the battery cover.
* For the PowerShot S2 IS, PowerShot S3 IS, and PowerShot S5
IS the batteries are inserted in a slightly different order, please
refer to the decal inside the battery door for the correct order.

Unfortunately not the solution but thanks anyways. I have already grown to really dislike the camera and haven't even used it yet!
Yep, I'm in the same boat. This is what happens when you insert the battery incorrectly -- you cannot get it out again! Not a very good design. I was warned and was being so very careful, then yesterday was in a hurry and popped it in without checking. According to my manual, the camera must be taken to an authorised Olympus dealer to fix. So if anyone has any repair ideas in the meantime (that won't void my warranty!) please share!!!!
