Cpu on but does nothing

I am using Intel chip set motherboard.Once I get checksum error and then after shutting down the comp. I displace the RAM and cleaning it by eraser I place it,and also do same for battery, switch wire power cord, and some other, changed the power supply also. But don't get any response.

One thing I wronged that I put the power supply cord of floppy drive into usb pin wrongly and after that when I power on the ups cpu also turned on but does not work and monitor does not display anything.

Please anyone can say what would be the problem?????

A lot of thanks in advance.

I once plugged in the power cable of the floppy drive incorrectly, and it shorted out the power supply, floppy drive, and motherboard - but the smoke pouring out made it obvious what had happened.

Could this be the case for your issue? Is it possible to try an alternative power supply to see if the system then boots properly?

you can change BIOS battery this may be due to the fact that the battery powering the CMOS (when the computer is shut down it allows the CMOS to store information), is depleted. The CMOS battery is a small pin found on the motherboard; you can refer to the manual provided with your motherboard to change it.

Reboot, go into the BIOS despite the error message then lower some settings below default values. Save and restart - if you got the same error message again then the BIOS chip is no longer powered correctly, the motherboard is dead.

Bios rom checksum error

Hi, the download site for the mainboard is here:

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Desktop+Boards&ProductLine=Third-Party+Chipset+Boards&ProductProduct=Intel%c2%ae+Desktop+Board+D101GGC

I think you have change the battery on the mainboard:

Its a 2032 watch type battery 3 volts.

The BIOS ROM chip on the motherboard is probably faulty. It could also be another component on the motherboard.

It could also be a fault in the ram memory or the cpu.

Getting a bios error msg....CMOS checksum

No problem, once and awhile I just cruise around on here. You can narrow the problems down by either replacing the ram/hardrive/expansion cards/cpu with known working parts, or putting the parts into another working cpu untill it stops working. My guess would first be to try removing the hard drive. Once you get a working combination, add the parts in untill you find a the issue component. If the problem persists, your looking at a bad harddrive controller or hard drive, that undermines your entire system's stability. If I am right your working with a socket A motherboard and thats pretty old so I wouldnt be suprised if it may be quitting.

Two rams stopped working in intel d101ggc from today

You've got either mismatched RAM memory or 1 of your sticks are bad. You can isolate this by booting 1 stick at a time. If the machine boots fine with both sticks (one at a time) then they are mismatched or your motherboard isn't configure to handle the 2 sticks together (not very likely but a possibility) Hope this clarifies your problem All the best!

cmos checksum errors are caused by a bad battery.
If that dont work then the board is bad from the factory.
