The noise MAY be normal due to disk activity during boot... ALSO sometimes the fans are very noisy at startup.

Drive noises are typically a common and needed noise. Most run via magnetic (voice coil) technology and that is noisy. Slow play back may be related to connection, usually you need stuff on your harddrive (C:\) to avoid access delays.

Hi i have laptop dell"inspiron 2200 when i swithed it on the laptop so it will get open and get stop than start making noise like tooooooooooooooo

Back up your data on an external drive now! It could be the optical drive or the fan but it is most likely the hard drive. If it is the hard drive making that noise, it is about to die. Saving a hard drive is unlikely. You can replace it but you cannot replace your data. Save your data now!

Needle? There is no needle.

Your Hard drive just died. It sounds like the bearings just gave out or something else happened to the Platen.

When it makes noises it means something is very very wrong.

I hope you backed up your hard drive. If you didn't you just cost yourself anywhere from $100.00 to $1000.00 for professional data recovery.

Time to buy another hard drive and reinstall your operating system.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

pls rate 4 stars.

Hard drive started making a loud clicking noise

Clicks from a hard drive are never good news. If the disk is still readable I'd STRONGLY advise an immediate backup, starting from the most important files. Unfortunately USB does not support SMART querying of disks - you'd need to extract the HD from the enclosure and connect it directly to a PC to do that - but the disk sync information might have degraded to the point that the disk needs to recalibrate fully. This is usually followed, as the degradation continues, by the disk becoming unreadable.

A more detailed description (albeit understandably a bit biased) is here:

My external hd makes a constant, loud noise

Back up your files and buy a replacement drive the grinding noise is the hard drive experiencing mechanical failure and may stop working soon.
