I've had this issue with older GPS devices. What I ended up doing was taking my memory card to my PC backing everything up and then reformatting the card, and dumping everything back on to the card. If this didn't do the trick then I kept the backup of the card I did on the PC and had my GPS reformat the card, made sure the GPS would turn off/on normally again, then taking the card back to my PC and restoring all the data back onto it.

Very strange, but that's the work around I've learned. Hope this helps!

If you do not have a memory card in the port then that is where you will need to insert one.
If you have a memory card installed then it has been formatted and the TOMTOM cannot read the format try removing the card and try the card on another device to rule out defective card then replace if it is not working on the other device. If it is working on the other devise try another memory card and do not format the card or erase the boot up software to make room for more information,

Sounds a little like I may have done something like that myself from the way this was answered.

Where is the SD CARD LOCATED AND HOW DO i REMOVE IT.........

Hi,

Had exactly the same prob on mine. The reset button is at the back of the unit, underneath the top, above and to the right of the dock connector.

Best way to see it is to hold the tomtom upside down with the screen facing towards you. Find the dock connector (circular connection at one end, with a row of pins to it's right), look above and you'll see a cut out with a pin hole in it.

In the age old tradition, an unfolded paperclip is the weapon of choice here. Place the paperclip in the hole and that's the reset button.

Here's a pic I found on www.tomtomforums.com (posted by Pedro2NR)

Power on & off

I believe that Windows Mobile has some "built-in" memory leaks. But my experience with this phone is that some of the third party apps that change the appearance of the display (i.e. - SPB Mobile Shell) take up an enormous amount of memory and tends to leak severely! I suggest removing any third party apps from your phone and seeing if you still experience the issue. If so, hard reset the phone. If not, install the third party apps one at a time and let them run for a while before installing the next app to narrow down the app causing the problem.

I really dont like the ttyn - am quite dissapointed with it! should have gone for the N95 8GB instead - more user friendly and has its own comaptible version of MS progs.... oh well maybe next time eh

Down load to memory card

just back up using NV Backup 1.02. The icon has a little card next to it. Looks just like the other NV icon (right next to it) except for that.

Back light of the LCD display is not working

Get a RMA by TomTom by callinging them directly (see on TomToms webpage) I've solved by shipping my unit to Neaderland with UPS at no cost, they replaced the motherboard (not the display, this  just remained the same!) I've received the repaired 910 after 5 days and I've spent no one cent! And I've got also the battery, AC power supply and software replacement! Other problems of the software are still present: the unit won't cange colors by night-light changes (only one time after a reset...), tryes to connect to phantom computers, after a power on it get off and then on if connected on the car support,... The 910 is a crazy device, not stable at all. I think I'll change it with the new model Go930T Ciao (sorry for my bat english)

TomTom Nav5 problem: Arm Read memory allocation error

I don't know what it is with those brits but I think they hate us here in the America's. I have TomTom Nav 4 on my wife's T3 and had problems with instillation but could not get support (real person) from tomtom. Did you buy the Nav 5 from Palm's website? I called them and they said that they were making one "JUST" for the LD but didn't know how long that was going to take. If anything if you did buy it from Palm you should try calling them and see if they can help you with it.
