I've had this issue with older GPS devices. What I ended up doing was taking my memory card to my PC backing everything up and then reformatting the card, and dumping everything back on to the card. If this didn't do the trick then I kept the backup of the card I did on the PC and had my GPS reformat the card, made sure the GPS would turn off/on normally again, then taking the card back to my PC and restoring all the data back onto it.

Very strange, but that's the work around I've learned. Hope this helps!

My tomtom one wont turn on.

there is a reset on that which you will need something small-paper clip works really well-to push in. Pop your memory card out and push in, then hot reset-good luck!

Not picking up gps

Try performing a reset.
To reset your ONE XL, use a straightened paper clip, or something similar, to push the reset button. The reset button is next to the memory card slot, on the bottom of your ONE XL. Then turn your ONE XL on.

You may also want to contact TomTom Customer Support for assistance.

Will not turn on. Just says TOMTOM

Your Tomtom's programing got corrupted. You need to have the memory re-Flashed to a good program can be loaded. Bring your Tomtom to a local electronics repair shop and have it done there.

I hope this helps. Thanks and have a nice day.

Tomtom one xl freezing on start up screen

OK... I found an amature solution;

- Do a soft reset of the system, with the paperclip (see tomtom site)
- Put the device on the docking station and connect it to power as well as to your computer. While it's turned off
- Turn on the TOMTOM while connected to the computer
- Start the TOMTOM Home software
- And it made connection again
- Disconnect the device via the software
- Take the device out of the docking station
- Turn it off and on once

This worked for me, my next step would have been the support desk. Grtz Derk

Won't stay turned off. Locked into one location, will not locate itself. Nothing's right shows 34mph when sitting still.

Hello Fixya, I did nothing to repair the problem. The battery ran down and the TomTom could do nothing but turn off. The next morning I took it out doors and it started receiving the signal and found its location. Has worked correctly all day today, We'll see. Thanks for your concern, it just seemed to correct itself. Hope so. Cyssie

TomTom One Europe

What is happening is your map updates are being copied onto your memory card without overwriting the old maps hence you are running out of memory.

In the tomtom home browser you should be able to delete your old map before installing the new one. Make sure you have a back up of the map card before you try this though so you can reinstall if something goes wrong.

Also have you replaced the voice prompts on your tomtom? The voice files take up a lot of memory so if you have put new ones one without removing the old ones you will be wasting memory.

There is one window in TThome that lists eveything installed on yuor card so have a good look at this and see what you can get rid of.

GPS Won't Turn On

Amazing what reading through the support page at TOMTOM reveals... I have the XL so no SD card to remove, but the support page explains that a hard reset by holding the power button takes 15 SECONDS. That's actually a really long time if you watch a clock. I pressed it and waited it out, and it worked. Powered right up. Not sure if I lost all my favorites and stuff but I have them backed up using TomTom Home anyway....
