Question about Computers & Internet
I bought a Sony Vaio (model PCG-7V2L) with Windows Vista in August. The power settings have never worked right. The screensaver comes on, but the display never shuts off or the computer never goes to sleep on it's supposed to (no matter what power settings I use, or how I set the times). It also never goes to sleep when I close the lid, even though I have it set that way.
IS THEIS A GOOD COMPUTER ? WHATS IT WORTH ?

A program that is stopping your computer from being "idle" will stop the computer from going into standby. An antivirus program doing a check in the background, or a backup utility or another background program could do this. Try to terminate the various running applications and see if the problem goes away, then you'll know which program was the offending one.
As for the lid, just doublecheck - go to control panel->power options->advanced and the dropdown that says "When I close the lid of my portable computer" should read "Stand By"
