Software was installed on your computer when the printer was installed. You most likely have a Icon by your clock for your printer. Open up this icon. Look for Fax setup or fax settings. This will allow you to change your phone number.
Without knowing the model no & name I can not look into the setup files and advise you better.

Phone line and fax machine

ou may have inadvertently changed it from "Auto Fax" to "Manul". From the Xerox knowledge base website at:

Print the fax received in manual mode by:
When a fax is received, your machine sounds the ringer. Then you will hear a fax tone. Press On Hook Dial and then Start Copy/Fax. The machine prints the fax and returns to Standby Mode when the reception is completed.

Phone is plugged in to a fax machine and the phone rings too many times before answering machine picks up so the fax machine takes over. How can I reduce the number of rings so that the answering machine...

Change the answer machine rings to answer number to less than the fax number of rings to answer or increase the number of rings to answer on the fax machine. Would need exact model number of phone system to give more detail on programming steps. Info should be in manuals of phone system and fax machine.

Change incoming fax number

Unless I'm misunderstanding your question, your fax machine has nothing to do with the incoming fax number. That's assigned by your phone service provider to the telephone line the fax machine is connected to. The only way to change that number would be connect the machine to a different phone line. This might be as simple as just plugging the phone cord into another jack if that line already appears at a convenient location, or it might mean a visit from a technician to place a jack where it's needed. Or you can contact your phone service provider about assigning a new number.

I hope this has helped. If not, please post a comment with more information about your question and I'll try to help further.

Switched to shaw digital phone service from mts. my ph # and my fax # are different numbers but when phone calls come in the fax picks it up instead of the phone.how do i change this?

Call a cell phone from the fax machine to find out what the machine's number is.
Be warned, tho, fax machines will not work reliably on digital phone lines.

Cannot receive faxes, but can send

Hello,
I can send faxes from my HP Fax 1010, but cannot receive them. I can dial the number from another phone but it will keep ringing and the machine never picks up. We have tested the phone line and all seems well. Is there some setting on the fax machine itself that I need to change in order to receive? Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
