I had an actual paper jam, and I dug it out of the back of the printer. Now everything is cleared out, but when I try to print, the page stops halfway through and the "paper jam" light comes on. Any suggestions

Mine says "delete all print jobs and turn the printer off. Remove any foreign objects from inside the printer. After a few minutes, turn the printer back on".

Do i open up the printer? If so, how?

All it takes is a small scrap of paper, or other foreign object (staple..) stuck in there somewhere, out of sight, to cause this kind of problem. If a gear in the drive mechanism is broken (missing a tooth or such), that will also cause this kind of problem.

A paper sensor lever could also be stuck, broken.

Hope this helps!

Hey there,,

Is the power cord secure?
Is the printer on?
Is there a paper jam?
Is there paper in the tray?
Does restarting the printer end the problem?

Local Printers:
Your printer cable may look something like this like above or the cable shown below.

Hello,
The sensor may be dirty even if it looks like there is no paper jam. Take a bottle of compressed air and give it a once over. Make sure you don't shake or tip the compressed air as you don't want to fast freeze anything.
If this does nothing, you probably have a failed sensor which will need replacing.

I have a Cannon Pixma MX320 all in one printer and I cant get it to stop saying document in ADF

Issue: ERROR LCD: DOCUMENT IN ADF
Solution: Remove foreign object from the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) - MX310
Check the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) for obstructions
Follow this procedure to check the ADF for obstructions. You do not need to turn off the power when clearing document jams.
Document jams in the ADF (Document Tray)
  1. Press <Stop/Reset>.

  2. If a multi-page document is loaded, remove any documents other than the jammed page from the ADF, then open the Feeder Cover.

  3. Remove the jammed page from under the roller to the Feeder Cover side.

    remjammed.gif
  4. Pull out the jammed document from the ADF. If the document cannot be easily pulled out, proceed to section Document jams in the ADF (inner side).

    pullout.gif

  5. After removing the jammed document or if a document is not jammed, check the document feed area to make sure there is no foreign material. If you find foreign material, carefully remove it.
  6. Close the Feeder Cover.

Note : If documents remain in the ADF after pressing the Stop/Reset button during scanning, "DOCUMENT IN ADF" appears on the LCD. Press the OK button so that the remaining document is automatically fed out.

When rescanning the document after clearing the error, rescan it from the first page.

Note: The document may not feed properly depending on the media type, or your environment, such as when the temperature and humidity are either too high or too low.
In this case, reduce the number of document pages to approximately half of the loading capacity. Another alternative is to scan from the platen glass
    .

  • If documents remain in the ADF after pressing <Stop/Reset> during scanning, [Document in ADF] will appear on the LCD. Press <OK> so that the remaining document is automatically fed out.
  • When rescanning the document after clearing the error, rescan it from the first page.

When trying to fax I get an error "open adf cover"...

You should be able to. It sounds like you've got a paper jam in the document feeder. Chances are there was a jam and part of the document (a small peice perhaps) is still lodged in the document feeder unit.

Jamming of documents in autmatic feed for scan mode

One way to unjam that would be to take a stiffer plastic or manila folder and insert it slowly into the document feeder and the slowly push it through the feeder until you dislodge the jammed document out of the bottom of the feeder.
That is a common practice in removing jams in the feeder.
