Question about Sony VAIO GRZ630 Notebook
Hello, maybe you could help me. I purchased a lap top from a friend and recenly purchased a new battery thinking this would fix the problem.
It just shuts down, sometimes with a warning sometimes with nothing. I am considering restoring but when it is working it is fine.
This particular model had several "fatal flaws":
1. It was subject to overheating, especially when using the CD/DVD drive for an extended period of time. If the processor got hot enough it would shut down suddenly.
2. The motherboard had issues with losing memory. The memory chips were fine, but the motherboard would fail to connect to them as the computer got older. You would start out with 512 MB of memory, then 256 MB, then the PC wouldn't start since it had no memory available at all. Also, the connection problems were transient, so lockups were frequent if it "dumped" while the laptop was on.
Unfortunately there is no known solution for either of these, although using a laptop cooler did seem to help the overheat issue on mine.

Hmmm..sounds like maybe the battery charger is unhappy? Try it without the battery, running on AC power solo
