Question about Samsung YP-K3 MP3 Player
When i connect the device via the usb on to my computer it says found new hardware and comes up with the found new hardware wizard to install the software so i click the next button so it installs then it comes up with.
there was a problem installing the software
An error occurred during the installation of the device
The specified service does not exist as an installed service
thats what it came up with after the installation so i cant put music on it at the moment any suggestions of what i can do?
If you have at Windows XP sp2
check your control panel/system/hardware\device manager setting.
You will probably have a yellow mark next to one of the settings delete the option with a yellow mark against it. Disconnect your mp3 player and reconnect it to get it to be recognised.
If you dont have the lastes software for your mp3 player download the latest firmware/software from the samsung support website and install it first. Then connect your mp3 player.

I have the same problem but my xp is a genuine copy and has service pack 2 and is up to date any ideas?

I too had the same problem. I am pretty sure it was because although I have Windows XP pro installed I don't have the XP service pack 2 installed. If you have a bonafide copy of XP pro I think you can download XP service pack 2 from the web. Unfortunately we could not download the service pack from the web as the person who sold us our computer had put a dodgy copy of Windows on it. What I had to do in the end was copy all my songs onto a friends laptop which is more up to date and then it was just a a matter of plugging the MP3 player into the USB hub (didn't even have to install the software) and copy and paste all the songs onto the MP3. I hope you have a friend with an up to date laptop or that you can download the service pack 2 from the net. After all this and finally having many songs on the player it worked for a bit but now I can't turn the darn thing on. Every time I plug it into my computer it lights up and says it is fully charged but once I unplug it, it has no response whatsoever when I try to turn it on. I am actually fed up with it and if you have a receipt and it is still under warranty I would try and take it back and get a more user friendly MP3 player.
