Problems finding online games with ps3 using BWA711 wirelessly
Does anyone know how I can configure my router to let my ps3 find online games? I recently got Call of Duty 4 and my ps3 found the internet wirelessly. I can connect to the web browser and chat with friends on the ps3 but when I enter Call of Duty and search for online games, it does not find the Call of Duty server.. Does anyone know what the problem is?

Connect your desktop computer to your Belkin router, and access the router's built-in web-server software. Then, run the "Wireless Network Setup Wizard", to configure the router's wireless networking capabilities. As part of that process, you will be required to _create_ a "WEP-key" value. Use that value when configuring the wireless capability of your PS3.
Router doesnt require driver to be installed on a computer to work.
For getting into the settings or web configuration page type http://192.168.1.1 on the address bar of Internet explorer or any available web browser and you can configure it.
Actually you don't need to forward ports when playing online games. The router should automatically locate the ports for the game because it has UPnP function. Here's what you can do. Disable the port forwarding and DMZ that you set on the router. Look for the UPnP function of the router and disable, Save it. Enable it again, then save. Now power cycle your router. If you have Static IP on the PS3 network settings, try to set it first to automatic IP and automatic DNS.
To change the password key - you need to be logged into the Administration of the router - the configuration. Inside the configuration is the way to change the encryption key (password). You should use WPA at least for your encryption.
make sure that the ip address that you are getting is a valid one and you are connected to the correct wireless network. for example, if your router's ip address id 192.168.1.1, your computer should have an ip address of 192.168.1.x. if you are getting a valid ip address and you're still getting the dns error, the thing that you can do is set a static ip address and dns to your ps3.
if you don't know the dns to use, go to the command prompt and type ipconfig/all and it'll give you a list that'll contain the dns servers. copy the dns and enter it on the ip settings of your ps3 together with the default gateway (ip address of the router), subnet mask (it's usually 255.255.255.0) and your ip address (make sure that the ip address that you'll set on the ps3 is not being used by any of your computers)
hope this'll help you and just ask me if your still having any problem
wel becouse the modem is older than the new ones and the conection would no longer be recieving upgrades, even if you conected the ps3 or your xbox you would not have a strong enough conection to be able to play online peacefully i recomend u get braodband wit 3-7 meg connection and then u should have no problem conecting either console to your router/modem
Are you going to connect your PS3 wired to your router or wireless? 1. check first if ps3 is working behind rca modem. 2. then connect a pc directly to your linksys router 3. open configuration page of linksys by typing your gateway on your browser. (usually it is by default 192.168.1.1) 4. go to applications and gaming tab 5. you'll find there port forwarding..key in your number there > i guess your numbers are like 88 and 3764 (something like that) 6. if your trying to connect your playstation wirelessly, you need to know your wireless security (if your router is secured). > go to wireless tab and look for wireless security > get your key 7. go back to playstation and try to view your wireless network > connect and type in your key
