I accidently dropped my camera and now whenever I turn it on to take a photo, the screen reads 'zoom error'. I was having problems with the lens cover getting stuck before but it's now become worse because it cannot open at all. Would you know an estimate price on getting it repaired in New Zealand? Thanks. Alisa.

I have the same problem with my Fuji Finepix Z2. My friend dropped it accidentally and zoom error occured.. I had the same problem a month ago and another friend fixed it by closing the lens and reopening it again, I'm not too sure how he did it but I tried following how he did it but apparently, nothing happened. grrr... it's frustrating! anymore suggestions on how to fix it aside from taking it to an electronic electrician?

Dear Emma

I suggest you not to try putting back the lens inside, rather u can take it to the Fuji service centre but they will charge you a lot, instead you better go to a standard electronics repair shop, i am sure they will do it.

Thankyou

Getting an zoom error on my fuji film finepix z90, what can i do?

Lens errors (zoom errors on Fuji's) are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ... Unfortunately, many cameras that fall prey to lens error problems can only be corrected by professional repair. But, here are some last resort troubleshooting steps that you can try that may correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty (or repair cost approaches that of the camera), they're worth that try.

On the screen the problem is ZOOM ERROR. The lens is out and will not go back in.

The zoom motor is your issue now what you can try is taking the batteries out then gently push the lens back in if the lens does not give any play then stop and take the camera to your nearest camera shop.

Thanks I hope this does help please do click on the accept button for my efforts.

Zoom error

The lens got out of track. Try to have them back by forcing gently the lens in ou out with your fingers. If they are bent, force them straight. Hope it helps.

Fuji finepix A600 camera - Zoom error

I had the same problem turn up after a few weeks. When I used the zoom button, the lens pushed out again and the camera worked normally for that time. I had to go through that procedure every time I turned the camera on.
I then sent it back on warranty and they replaced the lens assembly as well as the mode dial knob etc.
This camera has a 3 year warranty.
good luck...

ZOOM ERROR

I used to get that error all the time with a earlier Fuji FinePix with the slide-over lens cover. If the cover wasn't pushed back completely, the lens would extend only so far and then give an error. Make sure that there's nothing (dirt, hair) on any of the lens surfaces and make sure the lens is fully extending when you do turn the zoom on. Don't let anything touch or bump the zoom while it's moving, either.
Not sure if this will help, since you have a different model. This is what worked for me, though.
