New at Internet. When registering my Garmin 255W GPS, I'm getting :The Username/Password combination is not valid". Please help!!!

To register your garmin nuvi;

• Connect your satnav to your computer with the mini USB lead
• Go to www.garmin.com
• Select your country from the drop-down list
• Click on the "myGarmin" tab at the top of the screen
• Click "Register your garmin product"
• Click on "Automotive" and follow the prompts

You'll be asked to create a username and password. Keep them safe as you'll need them later if you want to update your maps.

BEFORE you try to log in to their website, you MUST create an account.

Under My Garmin sign in, there's a "Don't have an account? Create one"

Put your full name, email addy, a username, password (6 character minimum) and confirm password in the appropriate fields. THEN you'll be in business to register your product!

All Garmin GPS systems are Registered wih Garmin to unlock the map data, so every owner has to call to get their gps' working.

If you say you Registered your product you can give them your Serial number and personal info so they can help you out and delete the account it was under.

So if it didn't work the first time and they have no records of it, all you would need to do now is to Re-Register

To update the maps you connect the satnav to your computer. If you haven't registered your satnav already you need to do so first. Go to www.garmin.com. Select your country and then click on myGarmin. If your satnav is already registered skip to the next paragraph. If it's not registered click on Register Your Garmin Product. When registering you'll be asked to create a username and password. Write them down and keep them safe as you'll need them anytime you update your maps.

When you have registered your satnav, or if it's already registered, Click on myGarmin, enter your username and password and log in. Click on myMaps. If there's a map update available it will say so beside the map name. Click on Get Update and follow the prompts.

To update the software, connect your satnav to your computer, download and install webupdater from http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=999-99999-27 if you haven't already done so. When it's installed it will search for updates. Follow the prompts.

When you register your satnav at www.garmin.com you select a username and password. If you haven't already done so you'll need to connect your satnav to your pc to register it. If you have and have forgotten the username and password you'll have to contact Garmin Support. The problem must have been a glitch on the Garmin website. Tried to sign-in today and it worked OK.

The information may be in the confirmation email. If not email them. As long as they have your email address they should have your password.
