Question about Epson Stylus R265 InkJet Photo Printer

Epson R265 printer

I have an Epson R265 printer, bought January 2007, and I am using compatible cartidges. On replacing the 802 cyan cartridge the printer claimed it was incompatible and required it to be changed. I know the cartridge is compatible as it functions perfectly well in another identical printer. The printer red mains light and the centre green are permanently on. Any ideas or advice?

Epson ink cartridges, always empty?

Epson has gone to great pains to ensure that third-party cartridges dont work. They really did a good job. Sometimes their printers wont even recognize genuine Epson cartridges. I saw a CX8400 with a brand new cartridge claim it was out of cyan ink after printing one 4 x 6 photo. Then it would recognize any cyan cartridge. It had to go back to Epson for replacement. You did not say if you are using original Epson cartridges or compatable Try removing the cartridge and replacing it again. try this a couple of times and check your status monitor if it continues with the problem you could have a faulty cartridge try a different cartridge

I have an Epson Stylus R265. It is telling me all

Did you use Epson Genuine Cartridges?

ALL…. Epson & Brother Requires Genuine Epson Cartridges. !!!!!!!!
That sounds like your problem.

In Purchasing Epson's CX 5400, CX4600, & CX7400 and more, I found out that Epson does not like Generic Printer Cartridges. I also Purchased a Brother. That also does not like Generic Print Cartridges. Color that should be Yellow, will turn out Green, Blue Brown, etc.

These printers have a CHIP that will detect if it is Generic or Genuine. When they see it’s Generic Cartridges, it will print lines thru the words, stripes across the picture and also do a mix match with the colors. It also will not let you print anything, if only one of the cartridges is empty.

I wanted to print only Black, and would not let me, because I did not have any ink in one of my cyan cartridges. Go figure.

That's what these Companies do., so they can keep selling the ink cartridges. Some Printers, are able to use Generic, and some are refillable. Some you can refill them up yourself and I heard, quite MESSY.

So I learned, thru trial and error, that you must use the ORIGINAL Genuine Cartridges for these PRINTERS. Some people say some models work fine compatible, but not mine.......

I had to replace the printer, but Epson, Lexmark & Brothers are always on sale. My Brother & Epson cost me $50.00 with Rebate. .

This is the only advice I can give you. If you find this helpful, pls rate me.

Thanks and Good Luck :0)

Hi, I have just changed the yellow cartridge on my R265 with proper epson ink cartridge and it is saying that it is incompatible. Can you help please?

Hi If you are using compatable inks try taking the ink cartridge out and put it back in again try this three or four times to see if it will accept it if not try a different cartridge you can sometimes get a duff one The earlier models have a different cartridge than the later models epson altered them and changed the chip

Replaced a new cyan cartridge for Epson 1400. Printer ignored it.

Ye of course it could be faulty and Epsons are sometimes very fussy about using third party carts. Get it replaced at your store, try a different brand or buy a genuine Epson cart if you can afford it.

Compatible ink cartridges dx8400

Epson cartridges are microchipped.

Do your new cartridges carry the same chip?

If not, they will not work.

If all else fails, return them to the supplier and explain they are not recognised by your printer.

Printing too dark

Check the properties of the printer in Windows, make sure it's not using any odd color profiles. My Epson uses E411__1 as it's color profile. There might also be brightness and contrast sliders in the printing preferences that you can adjust or return to default.
