Question about Dacor DMT2420 1200 Watts Microwave Oven

1 Answer

Froze and is non-responsive

This AM I used the unit on "reheat" then when I tried to use it again about 5 mins later, it was frozen and stuck on the time (I presume) it happened. Any thoughts on how to reboot it?

It's built in - I am not sure how to unplug it because wherever the plug is, is behind the unit and I am not too handy so I am not sure what to do.. Thanks for the suggestions. If I can get to the plug I will try that.

  • Jeasevoli Feb 01, 2008

OK thank you!! I'll try it right now. Yes, it is in the kitchen, no it's not over the stove and by built-in I mean its actually installed with a cabinet around it and no plug to be seen so I hope the breaker method works!

  • Jeasevoli Feb 01, 2008

I reset the circuit breaker and that seemed to work. Thank you so much for all your useful comments. It's good to know there are still nice people in the world that don't want anything in exchange.

Did you try unplugging it for several minutes and then plugging it back in?

If it will not CLEAR, You can try Un-Plugging it from the wall, let it dis-charge for 10min., then try . If you still have the problem, I would think your Control Panel has failed. The Control Panel is like an Electronic Controlled Switch with Pre-Programmed sections and Timers. Replacement is the only option. Sorry!

By "Built in" do you mean installed Over The Range? If so the plug should be in the cabinets above the Microwave. If not then go to your Circuit Breaker Panel. Are any of the Breakers labeled as Microwave? If yes, "flip" that Breaker OFF. This will cut the power to the Microwave. If no label, you will have to determine which breaker circuit the Microwave is on. Is the Microwave in the Kitchen? Try that Breaker. Remember to Re-Set the Breaker after you have made your test. 10 min Off is long enough.

By-the-way. Was the Cabinet "Custom Made" for the Microwave? Any Cabinet that has a Microwave built into it HAS TO HAVE sufficient air space and air intake for the Microwave to BREATHE, and Exhaust Hot Air. Otherwise the Microwave can Over Heat which WILL lead to all kinds of problems. Just a "Heads Up" Thanks!

My 6 year old LG above stove microwave is giving me an error message E-4 when I try to use reheat.

try unplugging the unit for about 5 min..... for the microwave to reset. Plug back in and try a microwaveable safe bowl with a little water for 30 sec. This may take care of the error message.

How do I reheat frozen lasagna

Microwave ovens are not meant to cook food, except in a very few situations. If the lasagne has already been cooked before it was frozen, then you'll need to weigh and to reheat it in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions in order to ensure the dish is heated through, though it's better to use a food thermometer.

The temperature you should aim for throughout the dish is 83C. Only at that temperature can you be sure that any bacteria in the dish will have been severely depleted.

Daewoo KOR-6LOB microwave oven the keypad is frozen andthe display reads 0, then will change to AC1 and a couple minutes later AC2 what can I do to fix it

proceed with common sense tech. God bless you
Touchpad dead If you have a stuck key or non-responsive key, most of the time you will have to replace the keypad for this microwave oven repair. If your keypad is connected to your control board by a flat ribbon wire, try disconnecting it and clean the silver contacts with an ordinary pencil eraser. After cleaning, plug it back in and try it. If it doesn't fix it, replace the keypad unit. Some units actually have keypad tests to confirm your diagnosis of a bad key.If your keypad and control is the same unit, replace that unit. Another note, unlike stove/oven keypads and controls, most microwaves do not have error codes or tests to distinguish whether it is truely the keypad or control. Most of the time, it is the keypad that needs replacing, but a small percentage of the time it can be the control. Check the tech sheet if they can point you to the right part.

Gh9115xe went off completely sometime after a cup of coffee was reheated. Now, nothing works. The outlet is live.

probably not
there is a glass fuse under the outer case near the circuit board
if that is blown it is from a short so you may have to take it in for a diagnosis

I have just purchased a Danby Mircowave DMG948SS and I am wondering if I am missing a manual. There is nothing in the manual about using the Reheat button and it doesn't really explain about the menu...

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for about 5 minutes.

If you still need help, contact Danby Customer Service US / Canada.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

When starting to reheat a loud crack, explosion, sound occurred,

As long as the door latches correctly there should be no danger. Some items will cause loud "explosions" in a microwave, such as whole potatoes when the skin has not been pierced. If the food contains pickling spices for example, the seeds will explode with a very loud sound like a gun.

As long as the oven continues to heat, there may be no other problem. But I suggest you stay near the unit when using it. Watch for smoke and be alert for strange odors. You don't mention the age of your oven but if it is new you can call GE customer care at 800 432 2737.
