Base plate will not unfold. Is there a release or should I just force it?
Comment by dndwaters, posted on Feb 01, 2008 No, it's not a fixed joint. It's a pivot joint. The base plate is pivoted all the way over so it will fit into the box it comes in. But it doesn't seem to want to move. I'm afraid I will break it if I apply too much pressure.

Inside the round bit there is a bolt its very tight but you will have to dissasemble to get to it apart from the obvios ones there are 4 hidden behind rubber covers on the sides and then th fron frame unclips this i difficult to start off but by the power button on the side there is a square lump of plastic sticking out place a flat head skrewdriver between this and the front lip and gently twist and the first clip wil come undone and from there you can get the rest good luck

This is what inverter board looks like:

Look for bad caps also, more likely to need new inverter board, warning, you can have bad lamp assembly also.
If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

The monitor screen will not stay up on my HP f1905e monitor

Inside of the base support there is a spring mechanism. I have seen the spring come off from its support, or some parts of the mechanism itself go defective. In some cases I had to order a new support from the manufacture.

Ctx pv 720 lcd monitor backlight drops post plus 30 seconds!

Hi...there,
The problems on the backlight inverter power supply. Open it up and check all the capacitors, it look like a tiny battery cap on the side had writing on it. (Example 1000uf 16v ) if you are lucky you can spot it right away...with a bulged on top of each caps. If not, just replaced all of the caps... Good luck!

No way, it's fixed joint... that is due to the design that balances the screen avoiding it from falling or stumbling down.

Hope I gave you the idea... Fixya!
