Question about Brother MFC 210C All-In-One InkJet Printer
I'm continuing to have problems replacing ink. How can I reset printer so it will not go through cleaning every time I put a new cartridge in -- cleans cleans, cleans and then I'm left with a emply cartridge which leads to "ink empty" - continuing cycle over and over
I found a solution at another forum. I have the same printer with the same problem. What you need to do is put some electrical tape on the colour cartridges to stop the printer from sensing the ink level. I put tape on the clear plastic ridge on the back end of the cartridge and this allowed me to print from the black ink cartridge even though the colour ones were empty. I used black tape which i think would work best.
I am also going to leave the printer off until i need it so that it doesn't waste the ink by doing random cleaning at all times of the day.

Just one advise: go buy another brand (canon).
brother printers cant be changed in the firmware. It does always cleaning cycles when one has changed the cart.

Replace the ink cartridge and close the Scanning Unit (Printer Cover).
If printing is in progress and you want to continue printing, press the Stop/Reset button for at least 5 seconds with the ink cartridge installed. Then printing can continue under the ink out condition.
The function for detecting the remaining ink level will be disabled.
Replace the empty ink cartridge immediately after the printing. The resulting print quality is not satisfactory, if printing is continued under the ink out condition.
