The roof opening panel assembly uses an integrated motor and module to operate the roof opening panel. The roof opening panel motor and module are installed new as an assembly. The roof opening panel is an electronically operated glass panel that can be opened or closed by the roof opening panel switch. Actuating the switch in either a forward or rearward motion supplies a ground to the roof opening panel motor/module. The soft-stop function is controlled by the roof opening panel motor/module. The roof opening panel has 3 modes of operation, manual mode, express open and tilt. The express open feature is activated when the switch is pressed momentarily. The tilt feature is activated when the tilt switch is depressed. These functions are controlled by the roof opening panel motor/module.

PINPOINT TEST E: THE ROOF OPENING PANEL DOES NOT OPEN OR CLOSE
Test Step
Result / Action to Take
E1 CHECK THE ROOF OPENING PANEL LIFTER ASSEMBLIES FOR OBSTRUCTIONS OR DAMAGE
- Check the roof opening panel lifter assemblies for obstructions and damage.
- Are the roof opening panel lifter assemblies OK?
Yes
GO to E2 .
No
REMOVE all obstructions and REPAIR any damage. If lifter assemblies cannot be repaired, INSTALL a new roof opening panel frame. REFER to Roof Opening Panel Frame in this section. TEST the system for normal operation.
E2 CHECK THE ROOF OPENING PANEL WATER TROUGH AND REAR TROUGH GUIDES
- Check the water roof opening panel water trough and rear trough guides for any loose obstructions.
- Are the roof opening panel water trough and rear trough guides installed securely and free from obstructions?
Yes
GO to E3 .
No
REMOVE all obstructions from the roof opening panel water trough and install securely. SECURE the rear trough guides or INSTALL new roof opening panel rear trough guides if damaged. REFER to Roof Opening Panel Rear Trough Guide in this section. TEST the system for normal operation.
E3 VERIFY THE ROOF OPENING PANEL ADJUSTMENT
- Verify the roof opening panel is adjusted correctly.
- Is the roof opening panel adjusted correctly?
Yes
GO to E4 .
No
ADJUST the roof opening panel. REFER to Roof Opening Panel Alignment - Horizontal Adjustment and Roof Opening Panel Alignment - Height Adjustment in this section. TEST the system for normal operation.
E4 CHECK THE ROOF OPENING PANEL MOTOR/MODULE FOR INITIALIZATION
NOTE: The roof opening panel motor initialization procedure must be done when repairs are carried out on any part of the roof opening panel assembly, including whenever the roof opening panel motor/module has been removed from the roof opening panel assembly, a new roof opening panel motor/module has been installed or when a new roof opening panel assembly has been installed. Refer to Roof Opening Panel Motor Initialization in this section.
- Carry out the Roof Opening Panel Motor Initialization procedure. Refer to Roof Opening Panel Motor Initialization in this section.
- If the concern still present?
Yes
GO to E5 .
No
The system is operating correctly. The roof opening panel motor/module was uninitialized.
E5 CHECK THE POWER WINDOWS
- Key in ON position.
- Verify the power windows operate.
- Do the power windows operate?
Yes
GO to E6 .
No
REFER to Section 501-11 to diagnose the accessory delay relay circuit.
E6 CHECK THE ROOF OPENING PANEL SWITCH
- Carry out the roof opening panel switch component test. Refer to Wiring Diagrams Cell 149 for schematic and connector information.
- Did the roof opening panel switch pass the component test?
Yes
GO to E7 .
No
INSTALL a new roof opening panel switch. TEST the system for normal operation.
E7 CHECK CIRCUIT CBP47 (GN/BU) FOR VOLTAGE
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Roof Opening Panel Motor/Module C922.
- Key in ON position.
- Measure the voltage between roof opening panel motor/module C922-4, circuit CBP47 (GN/BU), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 9 volts but less than 16 volts?
Yes
GO to E8 .
No
VERIFY the smart junction box (SJB) circuit breaker 47 (30A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
E8 CHECK CIRCUIT GD143 (BK/VT) FOR AN OPEN
- Key in OFF position.
- Measure the resistance between roof opening panel motor/module C922-3, circuit GD143 (BK/VT), harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes
GO to E9 .
No
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
E9 CHECK CIRCUITS CPR37 (YE/GY), CPR39 (VT/WH) AND CPR40 (YE/OG) FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: Roof Opening Panel Switch C930.
- Measure the resistance between the roof opening panel motor/module C922-1, circuit CPR40 (YE/OG), harness side and roof opening panel switch C930-8, circuit CPR40 (YE/OG), harness side. Measure the resistance between roof opening panel motor/module C922-2, circuit CPR39 (VT/WH), harness side and roof opening panel switch C930-11, circuit CPR39 (VT/WH), harness side. Measure the resistance between roof opening panel motor/module C922-5, circuit CPR37 (YE/GY), harness side and roof opening panel switch C930-14, circuit CPR37 (YE/GY), harness side.
- Are the resistances less than 5 ohms?
