You might boot up your computer and start pressing the f8 button for a couple of times. It now boot in Safe Mode and you will see some strange information running by your monitor.

After that there will appear a login screen that requests a username and password.

Try to fill in the username as administrator and leave the password area blank.

You might be able to log on to your system now and than you can change the password of your regular account by browsing to start -> control panel -> users and select your account followed by clicking change password.

I hope this will solve your problem

If you have forgotten your WINDOWS password, you should, in most cases be able to either recover or remove the password.

Before you try one of the methods below, there may be an easy way to find or reset your passwords, This method was pointed out to me by another Expert on this site ratz01

1. First reboot Windows XP in safe mode by re-starting the computer and pressing F8 repeated as the computer starts up. IF it still asks you for a password in safe mode, type ctrl+Alt+delete and try log in as Administrator
2. Then (in safe mode) click Start and then click Run. In the open box type "control userpasswords2" (without the quotes, of course)
3. You will now have access to all the user accounts, including the administrators account and will be able to reset the lost password.
4. Just click the administrators user account (or the target user's account), and then click Reset Password. You will need to add a new password in the New password and the Confirm new password boxes, and confirm by clicking OK.
5. All done, you have recovered the lost password ;-) If this method wont work for you, try these other methods

You need to make a BOOTABLE CD from a downloaded ISO file.
You will need an image burning program, I use IMGBURN, its free and small.
Download the file and burn the image.
Put the CD in the drive and boot your PC/Laptop ( you may need to enter the bios and set the CD/DVD drive as your 1st boot device.

Use OPHCRACK To RECOVER the password. download here.. (XP and Vista Versions)

This will start the computer in Safe Mode.
2. When the window "Advanced Boot Options" opens, choose "Safe Mode" with arrow key and confim by pressing the Enter key, then PC enters the Safe Mode.
3. Once you are in the Safe mode Click "Administrator" on the Windows login screen.
Take note that you have set the Administrator password before, you need to input the changed password instead of leaving "Password" field blank.
4. Then click Start > Control Panel > User Accounts > Select the account that is locked and change the password.
5. Restart laptop and login into the account you just created using your new password.

Upon startup requests password then fails to load 'youre settings' and therefore becomes inopperable. Please advise

reboot the system and press F8 it will got windows advanced option menu.select safe mode and log on to the safe mode.don't actually need the admin pwd.go to control panel and change the password .issue will be resolved if this is related to password.
if still doesn't work.in safe mode go to start run and type msconfig.go to start up tab and disable all and then try and reboot.if that works fine.again go to safe mode enable all start up items and try disabling each item and reboot.you will get to know that which one is causing the issue and keep it turned off.

How can I password-protect all files on my laptop?

Hi there.
You can set a bios and hard drive password either by using Acer Empowering Technology application or entering the bios itself by restarting the computer and hit F2 while its just starting up, make sure you keep your password safe because if you forget the the passwords you may find yourself locked out of your own computer and bios passwords are very hard to crack.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

Restart pc but as its starting up keep pressing F8 to get you into safe mode, choose start windows in safe mode then you will get a large iconed desktop with your account and an administrator account.

Click on the admin account then go to control panel>users, then go to your own account, choose change an account, then choose delete password.

Restart pc then you will boot straight into windows
