How do I replace the rear transmission seal on a 1993 Chevy G20 van.

  • Anonymous Jan 02, 2010

How di I remove the driveshaft? Do I have to take the whole rear axle loose, or is there an easier way to do it?

Hi ...first off remove drive shaft ....you will see 4 or five bolts just before the end of the transmission ...remove it to gain access to the rear seal ...pull straight out ...some times you will have to pry slowly to remove it ...then you will see in the shaft that the rear seal is in there ....push in and remove ....put the new seal in the reverse way

My 1993 Chevy van won't shift pass 2nd gear

Rebuild the transmission. This is an issue with the TH700-R4 as well as the 4E60LE transmissions. Sorry but that is the only way.

I have a 1985 chevy g20 sportvan the tranny is slipping i need a new one it has a tubo 350 in it and i need to know how to tell if it is short or long

What your looking for is the length of the rear tail shaft housing on the transmission. You want to measure the length of the one on your vans transmission. You will need to get under your van and measure from where the drive shaft slides into the back of the transmission to one of the 4 bolts a the front of that housing.

5 to 8 lug conversion

you may need to use the control arms, springs and knuckles, as the ball joints of the 93 g20 may not fit the 96 g3500.
