Question about Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 900U 19" CRT Monitor

1 Answer

Focus My monitor is crystal clear in the centre from top to bottom but as u look to the left side it becomes blurred. It appears to get uniformly worse from top to bottom as you look from the centre... The right side may be a little out but not easy to see. I was wondering if the monitor is suffering from focus drift and is there a pot inside that can be adjusted to compensate. Degauss does not help, there are no magnets near the monitor, and it does not get worse or better when turned on from cold or if left on for hours...

Hi,

Most 17 inch monitors upward have two (2) focus adjustments. They are located at the back of the Flyback Transformer (FBT) together with the screen control. They tend to "drift" as you have posted after some time of usage. In the absence of calibrating instruments, you simply have to wing it when adjusting. It might be of help if you use a squarish mirror to view the front while adjusting the controls at the rear. Of course the usual precautions apply when working with live units especially within the high voltage area.

Should you not be comfortable opening the unit, adjusting while "live", you may need to seek the services of a qualified professional.

In some extreme case, no adjustment could and would correct a problem if the CRT has already developed some form of ion burn on its mask and therefore would require replacement. At times, you may need to consider the cost of repairs (parts & service) as well as the down time which may negate justification for repairs and therefore the prospect of a new monitor might be better off.

Hope that this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

My praktica camera fell on the ground 3 days ago while taking pictures and it started giving blurred images on focus. please who do i do? i have tried reseting the lens and cleaning it but no avail.

The damage is in the lens housing, which includes a tiny motor that controls focus, if the gears are not operating properly or jamming this will produce blurry images making it impossible to take crystal clear pictures, and on top of that the alignment is more than likely out causing more complexity to the problem. The only option is have a camera technician quickly look at it to see if it might be salvageable.

My ViewSonic monitor is having an issue with blurring lines. Anything on the left or middle of the screen blurs to the right in a faded color, extremely noticable when I open MS Paint and fill the left...

This is a tipical flyback defect circuit, the lines can 1st appear on top/bottom of screen, then can increase to center. Send monitor to repair center, for check and repair. You can test with a tv test signal.

You will need to apply pressure to the top section of the rear cover.
Look for where the front and rear are joined at the top, and press down while pushing backwards. Becareful though it dosn't slip out of your hands and end up on the floor.
The point you need to adjust is on the flyback transformer (can't miss it..huge blob with a red lead going from it to the back of the tube).
There are 2 adjustment screws on the side. One for focus, one for screen. Have the monitor on and move the focus screw slowly left and right until you are happy with the picture.
DO NOT AT ANYTIME TOUCH THE CHASSIS WHILE THE SET IS ON. USE PLASTIC ELECTRONICS SCREWDRIVERS TO PREVENT ELECTROCUTION.
Please, take the greatest of care if you intend to open it up. These are very high voltage devices and will kill.

It could be an issue with the dioptre adjustment: 1 Set the Power Switch to ?A? or ?M? while pressing down the Lock Button located on the switch. 2 Make sure the LCD monitor is closed and locked. Pull out the viewfinder fully and adjust it manually for best viewability. So slide the rubber eyecup toward you. 3 Turn the Dioptre Adjustment Control until the indications in the viewfinder are clearly focused. The control is a litttle knob on the sied of eye-piece. While looking through the viewfinder, turn the knob until it is focused. Hope this helps. NewMediaMan

Auto Focus

I think I understand what you are after. If I get it right, you want the background as well as the subject in focus. To do this you will need to use a smaller aperture setting. This means switching the camera to the A (for aperture preferred) setting and selecting an aperture setting such as 5.6 or 8. With a brightly lit subject and a tripod, you should be able to get better landscape results.
